Knowing Me, Knowing YULE Special REACTION!

Alan Partridge in a pear tree! AH HA!

Knowing Me, Knowing YULE Special REACTION!

Comments

Comedy Vehicle is my favourite thing in the history of the world but I'm reluctant to suggest it for KB because I think most people just don't get Stewart Lee and wouldn't want KB to not have a fun happy time.

squarewindow

Yeah it’s not a movie set KB, that’s what much of England looks like 😄

Kieran B

Oh yeah. I never thought about some phone manufacturers making replicas of other vintage modals, like they're guitars.

Joe Thornhill

Definitely after / during Mid Morning Matters as they’re ostensibly connected. Scissored Isle is one of my absolute favourite bits of Partridge

Kieran B

Seconded

Kieran B

Yeah it was a novelty replica even in OFAH rather than an antique

Kieran B

He's going backwards, though. He started with Alpha Papa, not knowing there were T.V. series' before.

Joe Thornhill

Christ, I thought the Trotter's phone at 24:28 was already vintage by the first series in '81. Not still being made and sold, well into the '90's.

Joe Thornhill

Also Fist of Fun and This Morning with Richard Not Judy. Harder to get hold of but those would be great for reactions

Eleanor Elliott

One of my all my time favourite bits of dialogue is the Sherlock Holmes chat. Priceless.

Duncan Hart

The radio series is utterly brilliant. The child prodigy, the author, the gay lawyer, “France’s second-best racing driver”…

Eleanor Elliott

how do I put this...? hes 'aware' of TDT requests ;)

Craig McCulloch

"This time with Alan Partridge" is best....and most recent.

R Lawrence

That was actually mick Hucknall. I didn't see that coming.

R Lawrence

'I'm not being rude but you sound like a pig'

Nathan

So Alan after this! Rejoice! But it isn't mid morning matters? that would be the next chronological step for you since that takes place after I'm Alan partridge.

Nathan

Definitely

Richard Stokes

I think Boomer would love 'Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle' and it would be something a little different too, plus it's 30 minute segments as opposed to watching his full length stand up acts, so would be perfect for Patreon reactions really, and it is insanely good of course!

Mark Jones

I didn't know all that about Stewart Lee and Partridge,v interesting

Richard Stokes

Same name as my brother

Kevin Liversage

Delighted you reacted to KMKY as I think it's underrated. The original radio series is gold and this particular episode of the TV series is my favourite. Glad to hear you're continuing on your Alan Partridge journey. He's a brilliant comic creation and everything he's in is certainly worth checking out FUN FACT - can't remember if I mentioned it before but the character was originally created & written by Sterwart Lee alongside Richard Herring for the radio show On The Hour. This then led to The Day Today on TV but they had a falling out wirh Armando Iannucci. They later reconciled and worked together on Stewart Lee's TV show Comedy Vehicle - which was script edited by Chris Morris. The show features segments of a hostile interview in Series 2 with Armando Iannucci abd 3&4 with Chris Morris. It's interesting stuff and might be something you want to check out in the future. Before then you've got The Day Today, Mid Morning Matters, the various specials and This Time to enjoy. There's also some brilliant audio books / podcasts available on Audible - some on YouTube. I, Partridge Nomad From The Oast House. All highly recommend, particularly From The Oast House. Great reaction as always!

Duncan Hart

The cast of this is the cast of The Day Today plus you get Chris Morris thrown in and again its produced by Armando Ianucci, you cnt go wrong!

Richard Stokes

Kevin Eldon is fab! He's in an excellent 'Big Train' sketch singing Roxy Music's 'Virginia Plain', but he sings it as Chairman Mao. It's on YouTube. He is also a guest in one episode of Steve Coogan's Saxondale. It's hilarious, Saxondale talks him down from the roof of a building but then can't get rid of him.

Jason Scade

FANNY is the actor kevin elden...who I like to point out every time he pops up in something..and it's nearly everything....has to be referred to as ..the actor kevin elden

Paul Liversage

Gasp

Paul Liversage

I also do all the christmas specials at christmas..all the way back to steptoe ..porridge and rising damp

Paul Liversage

Awesome, I thoroughly enjoyed watching all that again and it's even better than I remembered! Fanny was played by the patient in the Jam Doc Cock and Sex Phoneline sketches you reacted to, Kevin Eldon, he's an absolute ledge!

Mark Jones

Jason Scade

That clip with AP meeting the actor who played The Milky Bar Kid (as a child) is priceless. Very, very funny!

Jason Scade

Feel well soon, KB. Take more time off! ♥ Fab reaction. Yes, the Tony Hayers guy is same man who got told smell my cheese. You will see almost all the Alan Partridge guests from this Yule special on The Day Today, 5 of them make up The Day Today team of 6. Coogan, Patrick Marber (wheelchair golfer), Doon MacKichan (Flavia), Rebecca Front (Christian lady), David Schneider (Tony Hayers/smell my cheese). Plus Chris Morris who wasn't in the Yule special.

Jason Scade

Yes, AP's MMM is unmissable! And don't forget the one-of specials. 😄 'Alan Partridge's Scissored Isle' (2016), a mockumentary in which Partridge examines the British class divide. And also 'Alan Partridge: Welcome to the Places of My Life' (2012)

Jason Scade

Patrick Marber is fab, there's so many hilarious characters he plays in The Day Today. The serial killer who is always on death row, for example.

Jason Scade

@Jay Ich nichten lichten.

Jason Scade

I was just about to leave you a comment saying “if you don’t get some more Partridge in your life, I’m gona have a breakdown!” 😄 ‘Mid Morning Matters’ and ‘This Time’ at some point, please KB 👍🏼

Tom

For me he will always be Peter O'Hanraha-hanrahan.

Jay

If you want more Partridge I'd consider watching his one-off specials (Alan Partridge's Scissored Isle, Alan Partridge: Welcome to the Places of My Life, etc).

Tony Hall

Norwich is a fine city honestly and if you need something partridge inbetween the series "Alan Partridge meets The Milky Bar Kid" is quality and has Simon Pegg so thats a bonus! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk-NlvY6O4k

Owen Rhodes

Yes, you're right, I thought it was called open books but it's Anglian lives

Tim Phillipson

That was great, haven’t seen this in about 20 years!

Duncan

Patrick Marber was brilliant in this and The Day Today - I agree. But you've got to take yourself where you want to be I guess, and he chose to focus on writing. The rest of the cast have all gone on to great things of course. Too much to post here. There's a wonderful photo that I saw recently of all The Day Today cast at a restaurant for its 30th birthday - everyone is there. And making me feel old.

Phil Robinson

Hi Boomer, the KMKY cast are all in The Day Today. The guy in the wheelchair, played by Patrick Marber, is a cast regular on that show but i think after he these shows he appeared less on screen and is mainly a writer nowadays. I know he’s written some award winning plays and films but it’s a shame he left comedy acting behind because he’s really good.

James Ellison

Nevermind The Buzzcocks next?

Dannythedoodle

I hope you feel better soon KB. But I'll come back to that. There's a few Christmas specials of shows that I watch religiously every year. Out of the one's you've seen there's Father Ted "A Christmassy Ted", Bottom "Holy" and this. There are others that you haven't had the pleasure of yet. But we'll get to those later I'm sure. I love this - it's also a lot more subtle than it looks. Alan is so terrified here, you can see it in his eyes, he knows it's his last chance to impress. And of course it slowly but utterly descends into a disaster. A perfect cap to this iteration of Partridge, and so glad you enjoyed it. Now, on to other thing - I know y'all over there in the US are not used to reasonable time off work, whether vacation or sick days - but please - do not be afraid of taking a week off or something. We in the UK will not care if you decide to have a bit of extra time to yourself and your family. We can wait. If anyone gets pissy about that, then they don't deserve you or your content. I've said this before. Consider it.

Phil Robinson

There was a 30 min special in between. Anglian lives I think it was called. I reckon that's what he might have planned next 🤔

jim78

Theres also the bbc radio series of Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge that preceded the TV show. Being just audio, not that great for reactions, but worth checking out nonetheless

jim78

Whooooo

Paul Archibald

The guy in the wheelchair, who also played various other characters on the show, is Patrick Marber. He was one of the writing team for the show as well. After this show he tended to focus more on Theatre writing, which is probably why he's not as well known as the likes of Steve Coogan. Very talented guy!

AdamMcAdamface

King boomer, in the extras of the dvd there is a 5 minute short. Alan partridge Christmas ramble. It's my favourite part of knowing me knowing yule. https://youtu.be/DBiJDmkpZQc?si=z34RAwr5voR32mG0

Tim Phillipson

You can now listen to his audiobooks and podcast. You'll enjoy them now as you'll get more of the references.

Kevin Liversage

Can’t go wrong with anything Partridge! Just don’t give up on it before the later stuff as it gets better with time.

Jon

If alan partridge then it needs to be midmorning matters as that what came after I'm alan partridge. 😉

Tim Phillipson

JURASSIC PARK!!! Can’t wait to watch this later 👌🏼 🤩

Rhys Jones

Get well soon dude 🤧
