Keeping Up Appearances and One Foot In The Grave must watch aswell as The Royle Family.

However if you want touching moments in british comedy I suggest you watch and react to The Royle Family , that has its very funny moments, but also very touching moments aswell, especially in the last ever episode.

You could watch them as an extra episode before series 2, they’re just so funny. They were on YouTube but be careful because someone did a series 1 and 2 of combined outtakes, you don’t want to spoil series 2. I know there are outtakes on Peter Kay’s YouTube channel but they don’t seem to be the full version of them.

It's a great episode, just a bit lighter on laughs than usual. Glad you liked Phoenix Nights - I bet you'd enjoy it even more if you watch it again sometime after reading some of the comments that explain some of the jokes that wouldn't be obvious to a non-Brit.

An example from this being the joke towards the end, he opens the gold envelope to announce Jerry’s test results and the woman says “must be BUPA”. BUPA is a private health company so the implication being that private health can afford to send out health notifications on gold paper. (Big up the NHS!).

I remember my Dad responding at the time "he's being used". Enough said. Makes a lot more sense watching it back now. I'd be pissed off as well, having to stifle my joy at being all clear and put on an act of dying for a few more days. Twisted or what. That Potter is ruthless eh......
