When I was in my teens, I had an only fools and horses alarm clock, it was a diorama of the council estate, with the van in front, and when it went off, one of the flat lights came on and Del was shouting "Rodney wake up you dipstick!" I loved it!

my favorite moment in all of the episodes was when Rodney done the fist into hand , man that is just perfect!

Also it can remain dormant for up to 30 or 40 years so some people might still be waiting to develop symptoms.

As much of a nonsense take as the spaces before the full stop from you, To Hull and Back was great for instance.

Absolute classic. I remember watching this when it was broadcast with my entire family. The Batman and Robin sequence had us crying with laughter.
Great reaction as always.

I must've watched this episode 1000 times, and only just noticed that in the opening scenes in the flat, Del is wearing a batman belt.

The actor playing the adult Damien was married to the actress who played Raquel, this is how they met on this episode playing mother and son, the actor playing the adult Damien also played Alfred Pennyworth in the Joker movie.

I don't know why this never occurred to me before but if Doctor Who wasn't canceled, adult Damien's actor would be The Master. Or at least, he could've been in the movie. He's even got the beard, so it wouldn't be far from his last incarnation.
Oh, god, I forgot. Alberts corps being electrocuted still creeps me out. Especially in the close up. That's one horrible existence.

I fondly remember watching this episode over Christmas 1996 when it first aired. I watched with my family and for hours after we would just look at each other and someone would go "da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na" and we'd all collapse in fits of laughter! Such a great memory. 1996 was one of the best years of my life, and this trilogy capped it off beautifully.

It's a shame really; what came after are GOOD episodes....the problem is that, well, they came after.

Re: the British beef joke. In the nineties there was a national crisis in the beef farming industry - with a fatal brain disease (with symptoms not unlike rabies) linked to the consumption of beef. It became infamously known as "mad cow disease". 150 people died, and 4million cows were culled.

Because of this episode and the conversation in the cafe, the Ship of Theseus paradox is now sometimes known in Britain as Trigger's Broom.
Seeing the old Littlewoods and Sport & Ski shop signs again is such a nostalgia trip too.

The scene when Rodney and Del boy were chasing the muggers was shot in bedminster Bristol, south west England, I was living there at the time, I was at work but my mum and dad who owned a newsagents in that area got to meet the cast and had a chat with David Jason!!

KB, these 3 specials (this and 'Modern Men' , 'Time On Our Hands' ) were shown in short succession over the Christmas 1996 Holidays and were billed as the last ever episodes and were truly a national event over here. I think it was the BBC who pressured the writer John Sullivan to come up with some more episodes that were shown a few years later. P.S. Brace yourself for 'Modern Men'

The other 3, unfortunately.
And agreed, Jay. The ending to this trilogy rivals Blackadder's in terms of quality, but they had to ruin it.

Did you catch the president's name in Rooney's nightmare? Del and Raquel called him "President Reeves" and Damian called him "Keanu"...

Definitely. This trilogy would have been the perfect final send off for Only Fools, but they just had to push it a little too far unfortunately.

Such a mid 90s feel to this episode at the end, them singing footballs coming home, the spice girls in the background. Nostalgic for me

24.35 million people in the UK watched the Time on Our Hands special that's coming up here soon, which wasn't far off being half of the population at the time... That's absolutely bonkers!... That's where it should have ended for me but that's another story.

This trilogy of specials is so good. They're hilarious and touching, and they show John Sullivan's writing at its very best. I remember watching these with my family over Christmas 1996 - it was such an event! Over twenty million people tuned in to each episode, which is crazy to think about now. Barring news or sporting events, there's never really been anything like it since.
