Those of us of a certain age will remember looking forward to a classic Simpsons double bill followed by Robot Wars on a Friday night on BBC2. Good times. You should still be able to watch the episodes on YouTube but for the HD versions, you need to subscribe to Mech+. I loved your reaction to Darius by the way.

I've never understood the appeal of cruising in the Caribbean I don't see the purpose what's there you get off and just sunbath which you could do on the ship? I've been on 6+ Mediterranean cruises and in doing so I've been to so many cities in Europe I can't even remember but to list a few - Paris, Barcelona, Rome, La Coruna, Naples, Venice, Dubrovnik, Monte Carlo/Monaco, Nice, Marseille, Seville and that's just the Mediterranean, I've also been on Cruises to Most of northern Europe - All the baltic states including Russia and in my opinion they are the best way to see those countries - the cruise companies do excursions that take you fairly far inland if there's something worth seeing.

I remember when i first saw it I was howling with laughter and have loved this scene since. Always makes me lol 🤣🤣🤣. One of the best amd funniest scenes in peter kays phoenix nights. However as funny as it is , i mean no disrespect to anyone who's in that situation or anything like that.

For a bit of context, quite a few young people from posh parts of the southern home counties decide to go to university in a northern town. For many of them it’s probably the first time they’ve interacted with a working class northerner, and both groups of people view the other as almost like an alien species speaking some weird language.

He is a constant liar e.g. “I know the SAS”, and when he talks about how many women he was shagging in the singles night episode……but the beauty in his character is that once in a while, he’s either spot on correct about something, or unusually talented. Darius the naked lunatic told Gerry backstage that he was a teacher , then you expect him to be conservative, or at least mentally stable, then when he comes out covered in lettering, Kenny says to Brian “I think he taught me metalwork” which is British for shop class. So he’ll be a massive liar in one episode, like telling kids he knows Chuck Norris, but every so often, he surprises you. Like the teacher joke here, and in the Keith Laird episode, Keith says to Kenny “do you know the Mexican for let me out, I’m burning alive…..arrrrrgh” then after Keith is out of earshot, Kenny delivers the perfect Spanish for the same phrase, including “arrrrrgh” Small things make this comedy special to this US-based Northern Brit. Brilliant reaction KB, hopefully you’re learning some random British tidbits from your community, and let us know if you’re not interested in these details…I’m sure they’re tedious for all the Brits who know what I’m talking about.
