She's just a character that's important to the 'lore' of Phoenix Nights. Without trying to spoil anything for Boomer, it's a re-occuring thing for a while.

Worth looking at: That Peter Kay Thing. Only one season but was a great introduction to Peter Kay's sketch show tallents. It was the show Phoenix Nights was spawned from.

I'm a Lancastrian and I agree... In fact, parts of Yorkshire are my favourite locations in the world, absolutely love the place... There's some very underrated and hidden gems in Lancashire too and the rivalry isn't what it was, even from 20 ago... Most young folk in the two counties aren't even aware of the rivalry any more!

You just had it right. And then you called it a "Hoover". Look up "Hoover". You'll see many things that AREN'T vacuum cleaners.

I love the character Kenny Senior. Everything he says is a complete lie. So much of an unbelievable story. So funny. He's the one handing the remote control to the TV thiefs in the car park

Keighley confederate in this episode are from Yorkshire and Preston Posse are from Lancashire. So the civil war theme was not just the American one but one of England's early civil wars too

The War of the Roses (1455-1487) was a civil war between the Counties of Lancashire (red rose) and Yorkshire (white rose) for control of the throne of the country. There has been a rivalry on many fronts between these northern counties ever since.

And the rivalry remains to this day! Thankfully a lot more friendly these days (unless you're pissed up in a working men's club in Bolton).

The English civil war was the house of Lancaster vs the house of York. Not much to do with the counties themselves but the rivalry has persisted. Mostly tongue in cheek though.

Keighley Confederates lol my hometown. Brawling with the Preston Posse sounds about right.
Keighley is in (West) Yorkshire, Preston is in the vastly inferior Lancashire.

The character Kenny cracks me up, the guy who gave the remote control to the thieves. After they realised the old man had died Kenny said "Iβve seen loads of dead bodies, i used to bag them up in Nam" π He also said that he seen Robert De Niro is making another Deer Hunter in Rhyl (a town in Wales)π Heβs such a bullshitter.
