The director John Landis (Animal House, Trading Places and The Blues Brothers) brought his sense of humour and a modern setting to the classic wolfman story. Maybe those scenes with the undead just caught you off guard a bit, if you were expecting a more serious horror film. The music choices were pretty much made because they all had "moon" in their lyrics. The song choices in this has never bothered me, in particular the transformation scene, i could be wrong but i think that choice was made to juxtapose with the horrifying imagery, which would’ve been way more impactful and quite frightening in 1981, since it’s effects was quite groundbreaking for the time. So the choice might have been to dampen the horror a little and not scare people too much and out of the cinema. To have a more traditional horror style piece of film score during that scene, it might have made that scene even more effective, but that then could also have had a knock on effect and made the more comedic undead scenes feel more tonally jarring and out of place.🤷♂️ It’s okay if it wasn’t quite to your taste, it’s one of my favourite 80’s films and I’m glad you did it. The scariest scene for me when i was young was the hospital bed in the forest nightmare scene. Yes that was Rik and Mr Rottweiler from Bottom. I enjoyed your reaction KB.
