SUNSHINE (2007) MOVIE REACTION!

I love sci-fi, but this was an interesting one...

SUNSHINE (2007) MOVIE REACTION!

You are seriously encouraging KB to react to 'Doctor Who' by suggesting he IGNORES the 26 years of Classic Who that made it what it is?!!!! New Who (especially that first Eccleston season) is virtually 'EastEnders' with a TARDIS! And let's wait and see what the outcome is of this latest version of the show..... it surely has to finally be cancelled due to those in charge destroying everything the show was and using it as for political propaganda. Can you envisage Tom Baker or William Hartnell 'twerking' in the face of a deadly foe about to eliminate them? Me neither..... I'm afraid that 'ever growing audience' you tried to tempt KB with are switching off en masse, and rightly so.

Rob Walters

Doctor Who might not be a comedy at heart but it is Sci-Fi and British. There will be people (say, in the live chat) who will treat it like Michael McIntyre or Benidorm but even that was good for at least 3 series' and those people don't have to watch it. Besides, it has an ever growing, dedicated fan base and will probably be the most viewed reactions. Never mind the 26 classic seasons. "NuWho" continues on from that but was made for fresh viewers too. Like I'm sure you would've been if you had access to it in 2005, but it will be airing it's 14th series on the 11 of may and will be on Disney+ (though labeled as season 1 for marketing), but I'm sure you could find it anywhere online. Just one note. The first few episodes are a bit odd but if you like it by episode 6, you're in for a treat (and there's a badass werewolf in an early episode). Anyway, just something to think about for Patreon, say, when Red Dwarf's over.

Great underrated Sci-fi film! one his few bests, imo. The horror with the man being close to God, and the Sci-fi elements blended perfectly.

Yes 28 days later is amazing !!!

I agree with you king boomer. Sometimes writers need to understand that space in itself doesn't need horrifying. The film didn't need a villian

KB. I think you might interested in watching Tenet and also in Inception. Both Christopher Nolan films and Inception, imo, is probably the best film he has ever directed.

David O'Halloran

Hmm...2 things puzzle me about this film. 1... How did the Icarus 1 maintain geostationary orbit around the Sun? Given the relative size of the shield, it should have acted like a sail, thus pushing it away from the Sun. 2... Why did the reflective shield not degrade over time? I don't care how good the reflective shield is, the fact is that during its transit to the Sun, that shield would have degraded to the point where its failure would have been accelerated the closer to the Sun it got.

David O'Halloran

The gold space suit makes sense due to golds resistance to heat, that's why gold is in electronic equipment and appliances. The music score is composed by John Murphy and performed by Underworld and it was composed for this movie originally. The budget for the movie was $26 million....and it grossed a pittiful $34 million worldwide.

Gary Mcatear

The ending always makes me emotional, a man’s acceptance of death, finally content after being the quietest about his fears. How the sun was described throughout the film was unjustified until that last moment, Cappa touched upon the beauty and was ready. This film is meant to break the realistic view and I truly believe Pinbacker (mark Strong) was a figment of the fear the entire crew felt on the precipice of failure. Sunshine to me was more about the psychology, often mentioned through the film. It’s not quit Trainspotting but this is up there for me. Also this is on the Wikipedia “ Boyle described the character of Pinbacker as a representation of fundamentalism. The director also described the potentially unrealistic presence of Pinbacker as an example of something that breaks the pattern of realism, similar to his scene in Trainspotting (1996) in which Ewan McGregor's character dives into a toilet.”

Geraint Harrison

I remember watching this not being phased by the jump scares. The only problem is that I forgot I watched the film and it shit me right up on the second viewing 😂

Geraint Harrison

i think alot of people misunderstand the ending

the_greenlion

I'm glad I skipped to the end to see if KB liked it because I've always wanted to watch this but I now know I won't like the last third and ending so won't be bothering.

BigChanChan

mate no you wouldnt at all - you would expand due to gas pressure... im assuming you mean explode... the liquids in your body would evaporate as liquids do under different pressures - and you would not instantly freeze at all

Craig McCulloch

I'm a fan of this movie but I agree, the ending lets it down. Great visually, great cast, great concept, but it relies on cliche for its denouement.

SJB

The only slight knock on this film for me is the scene shooting between air locks.. pretty sure in a vacuum they would implode and die instantly (also realise i'm starting to sound like David Mitchell the older i get). Otherwise, for me this is a great movie! In my top 20.

Jon

Considering some of the other suggestions that were made, this was one of the better ones i'd say.

David Williams

you really are a dog with a bone with that film arent you hehe

Craig McCulloch

If you want another goofy horror movie.. which also just so happens to have Werewolves in it, then An American Werewolf in London is definetly for you🐺Interested to see what your take on it's going to be.

Brodie Vickers

Skipped to your opinions at the end, out of curiosity. Your sentiments pretty much sum up the majority opinion over the ending. Myself included. I still think this movie is brilliant despite that, although Interstellar and 2001 are easily the best examples of thoughtful space exploration Sci Fi movies.

Jay

I thought it was good. At the end I explain my issue with it though.

Brian Moran

What kind of muppet would ask you to watch this..?

Craig McCulloch

Watch 28 days later. Its another Danny Boyle Film with Cillian Murphy

Will

So glad you've done this, although from the caption I'm slightly worried you may not have liked it, we will have to see!

David Williams

Good shirt KB. I salute you
