ROTATE THE BUNN!!

OK, so it's not particularly impressive right now, as I just have the little Stanford bunny sitting there having a little spin. That said, as of Friday, I have the game up and running in Godot. I have the camera setup, and all the scripts working. It has fewer visual options than the HTML version, and you can't save your game, but it exists and works, so I'm counting that as a win!

I talked with some people on Discord about the idea of the '3D version.' People assume I will use DAZ or something to make images for the characters. That's not the plan. The plan is to have an actual 3D character of the protagonist in the corner, animating and changing as the story progresses.

I don't want to overpromise. If I get just that - a model of the protagonist who physically changes? I'll be happy. I can do many extra things once I have that working - other characters, changing backgrounds to reflect the environment, additional animations. Still, I'm skeptical that I can do that in a reasonable amount of time. It's a lot of work, and I know that most people are here for the story, and I don't want to forget that.

So, for now, the plan is to have the protagonist, and just to have her idle, change outfits, and react to the physical changes in the story - anything else is gravy.

... but I'm really, really hoping we get to the gravy.

So, what happens next?

* I need to create a character design for the protagonist in each of her two primary states (SUGAR and SPICE)

* I must decide if I will include a visual for the protagonist when he's a guy. I'm up in the air on that one. If you have strong feelings about it either way, let me know.

* I need to build at least a prototype version of one of the characters, or grab a character from elsewhere and get it in the game, to start setting up the animation system and the links between the story engine and the game

I will have that all done by the end of October, but it remains to be seen if working on this version, and the html version will play well together. I will keep you up to date.

If you are in the DOCTOR SHINE SPECIAL tier, and you're interested in trying this much worse version of the game that does come with an adorable little rabbit rotating in the corner - send me a note, and I'll send you a download link. You have access to all builds, including this one - though I cannot honestly recommend you try it.
