2024-01-27 01:21:42 +0000 UTCJason isn't meant to be likeable yet. He's everything we as Brits, in particular, actively root against. He's brash, cocky, takes the piss & actually means it, knowingly handsome & does what he likes. They were never goig to be able to bring a character in to replace Stylax and have them be liked, for the simple reason that Stylax was an amazing all round character, and as you guys pointed out, was absolutely loveable whilst being a fool or being outwardly vindictive. His character was carried A LOT by Joel Fry since he has perfected the comedy style of being thick as fuck in an andearing way & looking dopey enough to believe he's a loveable fool but being handsome enough & social adept enough with women that you believe they'll want to fuck him despite not much going on between the ears. If they (Tom Basden/Waterboy-The Show's Creator, and any other Writers the show may have - English TV Shows have surprisingly low amounts of Writers when you compare to American TV & Comedy Shows) tried to write a replacement character to be Stylax 2.0 and so that you liked the character, in no uncertain terms everyone would fucking hate them and there'd be no launch pad for them to propell themselves off in the minds & hearts of the fans. The fact they made Jason an unlikeable character (a heel in Wrestling terms) means that the audience don't hate the actor, therefore there's room, with good writing, for the Tom Basden to write a redemption arc that has the audience invested in him when it comes time for the Film. I probably could have written this a lot more concisely, but I'm not a good writer xD
