Mitchell and Webb wouldn't have written any of the dialogue that wasn't their own, otherwise they would've had a regular writers credit, they just ad-libbed a bit during filming thats all..It's the writers that are historically literate and it's only David Mitchell's character that's obsessed with history though he is intelligent. There's no way that bit of superhands dialogue was written by David Mitchell im afraid.

I don't call them flannels. I think that's either an English term or a southern English one. I'm in Scotland. I call it a dish cloth.
