You read the situation as Mark had written a great business book that could make tons of money, so the publishers stole the chapters for themselves. That wasn't what happened. Mark wrote a load of utter shit, and the conman told him it was great and took his money to print it cheaply and poorly.

2023-11-27 21:42:24 +0000 UTCHe wasn't a publisher though, he was a con-man: and no way is self-publishing a preferable option unless you're just going to sell the book to 30 people...or I suppose if you're just doing it for you but not to make a living....We would never have heard of jk Rowling if she'd self published cause there would've been no marketing and even if she'd somehow succeeded any, despite that, she wouldn't have been able to supply the demand..That episode wasn't about Mark publishing a book it was about someone making him think that so he would hand over 2 grand.

There's a company called Royal London in the UK, which sponsored a cricket tournament for quite a few years, and because of this episode a friend and I used to call it the British London Cup without even thinking of its proper name.

2023-11-27 18:38:26 +0000 UTCJez the life coach is awesome, there are some great plot twists! 🤣 Only thing I'd add about self publishing to anyone, get a friend with at least a modicum of basic design knowledge to look over it, I have a few self published books (not my own!) and they really do look a bit like Marks in this episode, very amateurish!
