Friday Night Dinner S6 Ep3 "The Au Pair" REACTION!

The two weirdest characters fancy each other.

Friday Night Dinner S6 Ep3 "The Au Pair" REACTION!

Comments

She sounds Polish, not French or Swiss.

Grady Parsons

Agreed - especially as SMACK THE PONY is a euphamism for female masturbation ;-)

Matthew Mosley

Completely agree. I originally love series' 1-5 and was lukewarm on 6. Looking back, especially watching back here, I only really love series' 1-4 and series 5 was showing signs of decline. 6 will forever be terrible.

Josh

Worst episode by a country mile. Sally Phillips who I generally love is just irritating throughout here. They definitely went one series too far with the show for me. Most shows do sadly.

Karl Rocks

After I posted that comment I watched an episode as I haven't watched any for few a years, I forgot Olivia Coleman was in it too, and absolutely hilarious!

Mark Jones

I loved Green Wing, it’s full of nut jobs. Mark Heap plays basically the same character and is brilliant. Also features ‘landlord’ from Plebs.

Julian T

You should try Smack The Pony with Sally Phillips.

Neal Murdoch

Not the strongest written episode, but the wonderful Sally Phillips saves it for me - she's brilliant in everything she's in. Love her. And the King and Queen B banter here was top drawer stuff - The "Fatlegs" convo was hiliarious! You two always make my day better.

Phil Robinson

Cream tea is controversial, cream or jam first!

James MacDonald

Sally Phillips is at her absolute best in ‘Veep’ as the Finnish politician, Minna Hakkinen in several episodes

Sam

30:10 You guys just about kill me. Lol!

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

CLOTTED cream with a cream tea! (I know it doesn't sound appealing, but trust me you'll understand when you try it)

I-Love-My-Brick

That's such an underrated show these days, when it was on it was HUGE, but it's not mentioned as much as it should be anymore as it was excellent, they'd both absolutely love this show!

Mark Jones

Or both of them at once in Green Wing (though admittedly Sally is far better in Partridge than Green Wing).

Z is for Zed

It's probably been suggested before but I'll put in another good word for Outnumbered, I think you'd both really enjoy that show

Tom Merson

You once said the you and Queen B usually watch dramas together rather than comedies, I'd love to see you reacting to Luther with Idris Elba. That would make a great Patreon series.

Jason Bonner

Betty's does the best cream tea. I have enjoyed one in both the York and Harrogate tea rooms.

Colin R

I think it would be difficult to get a proper cream tea over there, but if you can find one, definitely try it!

Lee Organ

I love the jingle xD

x

I'm with Gibby. Cream tea, when done right, is bloody fantastic! If you do make it to the UK at some point, you have to get one in either a posh hotel or a rustic village tearoom (I prefer the latter, way cheaper, and much nicer people!).

AdamMcAdamface

Brilliant! Absolute classic, have you seen life’s too short? it’s ricky Steve and Warwick Davies featuring an episode with Johnny depp and some other funny appearances

Nathan

I think theres more chance of me making bread for Brian than QB

Craig McCulloch

1 less download lol

Craig McCulloch

c'mon boomer you know you wanna let us all see you do the jim dance

tricky D77

I think Mark in PS would love Blackadder. So we would be friends 😂. I’d also be friends with Jeremy for the comedy value. I’d be in my element 🙏🏼

Erica

I find the humour not really to my taste. So the writing is going to reflect that. I don't mind that others enjoy it though. It's fine to enjoy abd prefer different shows

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

Yes I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, was just saying 🤓. The script in PS is genius and there are many subtleties.

Erica

Seen it several times over my friend

Brian Moran

it's scone, clotted cream and jam

Nathan

I use the facilities ...

Mark Wootton

In your opinion. Imo peep show is mid tier.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

Prefer Peepshow and Man Down than Friday Night Dinner even though there all watchable anyway lol 😆

Luke Fisher

please consider Extras as a replacement show

Nathan

It's subjective, sure. But also peep show is a better written and crafted programme, that said I like fnd.

Nathan

Very surprised you liked this one! In my opinion, this is such a low for the series, and arguably the worst episode of the show's run. This whole series is below par, at least to me, but it seems a lot of people seem to like it.

Josh

Agreed the movie ain't great and the compilation is ok but its not the funniest of AP as it's titled not even close

Richard Stokes

I remember KB did a reaction to a "best of Alan Partridge" compilation, and the pretty sub par movie. He seemed to enjoy both, and did mention that he wanted to check out more in his compilation reaction. I hope he does, because what he's seen was definitely not the best of Partridge by a long stretch. With Spaced though, much as I love it I can never recommend it to American audiences, as there's just way too many UK references and UK nostalgia attached to it. One of those comedies that works best when you can relate.

Jay

With regards to cream tea, like English Breakfast it can't be replicated properly unless you have the local produce. I remember watching a couple of America channels try to replicate English Breakfast and it just looked wrong. Taking cream tea is also about the location as well, as its best eaten in a dusty old English countryside tearoom or a posh hotel.

Jay

I told you last week to make a cream tea at home on YouTube, I think now you have to! It's scones which are super easy to make, the Queen will make awesome scones, then you eat them with clotted cream and fruit jam (jelly) and a hot cup of tea, you'll both love it, a cream tea is delicious! You might struggle to find clotted cream though, and clotted cream is totally different to whipped cream.

Mark Jones

to to be 14 again?!....

James

I hope 'Green Wing' is on your shortlist for future shows, it starred Tamsin Greig who plays the Mum and Mark Heap who plays Jim, Sally Phillips who plays the Au Pair was also in it.

Mark Jones

Agreed Spaced and I'm Alan Partridge would be great next shows for King Boomer to react to. I currently only watch his peep show ones so would like some others to watch

Chorlton Outlaw

Au Pairs used to be very common, not sure if they still are, it was a way for young women in continental Europe to travel, they were basically nannies but with very light duties, more like live in babysitters really, and the families looking after them would be expected to involve them in family activities and such, like going for dinner or even going to theme parks etc. for the Au Pairs it was part work part holiday, my brother had one who I obviously fell head over heals in love with, I was about 14 so at that age where I fell in love with any slightly older girl who smiled and said hello! 🤣

Mark Jones

It's subjective. We all like different things. I prefer this.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

Two very funny actors, you should check out Mark Heap in Spaced playing an insane and pretentious artist and Sally Philips in I'm Alan Partridge, she only has a small role but makes it really funny. Two shows that only have a short run as well

Richard Stokes

It's french where "au" is pronounced "oh" and means "at the" or "with". "Pair" meaning "help" or "assistance" in this context. So "au pair" means "with help". It is used in reference to someone who helps the family and lives-in typically. A cream tea is "tea and scones with jam and clotted cream". Big debate re whether jam goes on the scone first or the cream. Obviously its cream first.

Kiwi Tau

It’s doesn’t touch peep show 😆

Erica

The show's almost over for you guys, which is sad. FND is one of my favourite shows.
