Series 5 was going to be the last, David Jason wanted to do other things, but he changed his mind during filming. As a result I think the Christmas episode request, from the BBC, was out of the blue, and a bit rushed. The final scene may have been done the day before broadcast, partly because one of them had flu or something. It’s one of my least favourite episodes (along with Video Nasty), and apparently was John Sulivan’s (of course, the writer) least favourite as well.
Tea for Three on the other hand, is brilliant, and who wants to be a millionaire has my favourite ever Uncle Albert line in it 🙂

This was one of the 1st episodes I owned on VHS when I started my collection. I love the hustle, and it's another episode showing Del's caring side.

I found after a while of sleep deprivation and stress my body and brain seemed to adapt eventually and I could cope on less sleep when I had my daughter, friends told me the same. So is light at the end of tunnel just takes a little time, you're doing fine mate, I'm sure you're doing all you can 👍

I've not got children but I've worked with families of young children, and if you feel like sometimes you don't think you're doing things right, it means you're doing things right! There's no guidebook for parenthood (well actually there are loads, and some of them can be useful), but a lot of parenthood is working out what to do in the moment and winging it.

A little moment in this episode that I find interesting, in the scene where Rodney sprinkles Del's after shave on Albert's breakfast, this was done without Buster Merryfield's (Albert) knowledge - and his reaction to the taste was genuine.

Your babe will get used to it. Mine is 3yo now. They have phases and get over them fast. Keep them in your room the first few months, they can sense their mother nearby and it often helps. Mine used to sleep 6+ hours when we did this.

The original is 76 mins. The butchered version with a laugh track is 58 mins, but it cuts out a lot of the cringey stuff and the laugh track ruins the dark vibe of the original cut.

I had no idea London had Scottish Mothers Pride bread back in those days. I thought we only had it in Scotland, same goes for Sunblest bread. Sorry total random observation. By the way a wee tip for you knew parents, wrap the baby in a shawl before putting them to bed, makes baby feel like its back in the womb and it will sleep right through.

Having had 3 kids, you need to find what works for you and if the bassinet is not working then really don't be hard on yourself.
You might wanna try something else - in the end, we took the side off a crib (UK = cot) and put the open side next to our bed.
e.g.: https://www.bidbud.co.nz/4316550739
Then the baby can be fed on one of us (if using a bottle) and then just gently roll the baby into the open crib. The baby cant go anywhere. I think we used to lay the baby on its side - its been so long now lol.
The point is never be hard on yourself and experiment with things until you find what works.

Second weakest of this series, video nasty being the worst and sadly this is the newer edited version with the wrong music during the miracle scene.
The next two episodes are good ones, especially tea for three. Really hope you have the full unedited version of this seasons Christmas special "a royal flush" as you'll be missing at least 20 minutes from it otherwise as the newer edited version's released is butched by the BBC.

The large thermometer is used in fundraisers and it used as a visual aid to people how close (or not) they are. As it gets closer to the goal, the "heat" rises. Again it's surprising to learn what is something that is only done over here

I remember hearing about some "crying religious statues" somewhere, and people were saying it was a miracle. It turned out to be water leaking from some toilet pipes, of all things.

Don't worry at all about baby duty, bud. It's still good to see you guys, when we do. It'll get easier soon. They say the first few weeks are the toughest.

it cant be helped some babies aren't comfortable in Moses baskets or the little one could just need winding some babies tend to have alot of trapped wind and tend to get very uncomfortable its probably why Andria isn't settled

"Why are they always called Bruce?"
Dels right, Bruce is such a stereotypical Australian name
