Curry monster scared the absolute piss out of me as a child 🀣

Regarding Kryten's actors facial expression - that was a big part of why he was cast. They needed someone who was expressive enough that he could convey it through the mask.

Martin Clarkson

"Your creatures need a bigger lair". I think it was actually a different guy in DK1 who said that. Richard Ridings did all that stuff in DK2, but for the first he just did the intros and outros for the levels on the map screen. Something like "Cosyton. A hideous sham of a town where the citizens have no gripes or moans, and even the children are happy and secure."

Relyx

β€œYou need a bigger lair” or something like that.

Leeham Pickles

Curry-tastic.

I don't know who first said "I am what I am". I just know it's a song but I can't imagine Popeye singing that in the middle of an episode and I've no idea who the second person is that they're referring to. How do you even spell that name?

Joe Thornhill

Just a little bit of trivia: the voice of the alien ship computer is Richard Ridings, who is also the narrator for the classic video games Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2, as well as a bunch of other more recent video games. He's also the English voice for the dad in Peppa Pig.

Relyx

You've actually seen human Kryten twice before. Firstly a few episodes back, he was the Droid company spokesman on the videos advising of Kryten's end of service. Secondly, he was the 1 legged Falklands veteran in the pub that Richie was fighting in Bottom

Apparently when Rob handed Craig the first polaroid someone had actually taken a picture of their D and he wasn't expecting it and his reaction was real.

Chris C

Gloria Gaynor, among others, sang "I am what I am"

The best theme song you heard yet you say, wait till you've heard it a couple hundred times.

JP (novel) was written in 1990, but I suppose Red Dwarf came out first.

Dean Carter

Oh god I love the next episode

Will Dennis

Love how Red Dwarf beat Jurassic Park by two years to make a story about DNA!

David Ridley

I agree KB - the best parts of the episode were Kryten trying to cope. The infamous "double Polaroid" scene was so well written and performed, I'd have liked more of that. Still though, I'm glad the episode exists just for that scene alone.

Phil Robinson

We dont want him, go away you can keep the smegger
