Basil has lost it yet again!

Fawlty Towers S2 Ep1 "Communication Problems" REACTION!

Comments

Ah Joan Sanderson. She had a long career but only became well known figure in later years mostly playing battle axes. A couple of years after this she played John Cleese's wife in The Great Muppet Caper. Then from the mid eighties to her death in 1992 she played Prunella Scales's mother in the sitcom After Henry.

Definitely, it's even better than Peep Show. And it's a vast Partridge-verse.

Tim Salt (Tim Salt Writes)

That episode gives me flashbacks to working in customer service

Mrs Richards dress really reminds me of my dear old gran back in the day she used to wear similar clothes

Amanda

Simon Hirst

Bubbles

You should watch Alan Partridge, I think you'd get on board with that.

Simon Hirst

The wildebeest quote is the most memorable for me as my Dad referenced it A LOT πŸ˜‚

Erica

i second this! i hope he reacts to it great video

Jake Lol

That is funny, it's an Australian restaurant which now has branches worldwide, there's one in the states too.

This isn’t really related to the video but I found something I think you’ll find hilarious! Would love to see you react to it! I just watched Dream Team Neal react to it. The bodybuilder Eddie Hall and his wife go to UKs rudest restaurant. The insults thrown around by the waiters are hilarious! I think you’d love it! Just search on YouTube for β€œEddie Hall rudest restaurant”

I'm old enough to remember watching Fawlty Towers when it was first broadcast, and in all those years gone by I've always remembered the scene in this episode when Basil is shouting about the 'herds of wilderbeest sweeping majestically......' and it makes me laugh now as it did back then, and on another point, Joan Sanderson, the actress who played Mrs Richards, often played similar types of roles in her career, the headmistress in 'Please Sir' being one I fondly remember, and as David Ridley (above) says, she was a lovely Lady in real life and I was sad when I learned of her passing back in 1992 aged 79.

Simon Cross

Yeah as β€˜Stephen says Joans realise character was actually completely the opposite an amazing lady, shows what a great actor she was

Mike Doel

Ah Mrs Richards, the original Karen. This episode must induce anxiety in anyone who's worked in hospitality!

AdamMcAdamface

My favourite episode! Joan Sanderson plays the grumpy, deaf old lady with aplombe. The whole episode was a magnificent farce.

Stephen Kershaw

30-40 seconds before I would slay her!!!!!!

Matt Wells

Excellent episode. The acting is so good.

Dean Carter

John Cleese has said before that the lady playing Mrs Richards was in real life one of the nicest people he has ever met. Just goes to so what a good actress she was!

David Ridley

such a great episode!

Rebecca Musson

What?

Jay

I Have dealt with people like this and it's Basil who taught me how to deal with them.....just take the piss out of them without them knowing :)
