You can keep your hat on.

The Full Monty (1997) MOVIE REACTION!

Comments

this now has a tv series with all cast returning

Dave Jones

This surprised me, I've not seen this movie since it came out and it holds up pretty well. It makes me want to watch Disney+'s spin off series now. You should take a look at 'Brassed off' and 'Pride', both also set in working class Britain during the Thatcher years.

Jason Bonner

The guy running into the wall was trying to do that trick where you run up a wall and do a backflip. He said so about 5 seconds before he did it lol

NuthinNew

Good reaction dude

Matt Wells

Yep the black dude is Denzel off only fools and horses πŸ‘

Matt Wells

Budget of $3.5mil, made $258 million at the box office

Chorlton Outlaw

For a British comedy this did pretty well in the US at the time - may have had an American production company or something

Chorlton Outlaw

Loved your reaction to this. Such a classic!

Mark Wootton

Not watched this in years and was good to see after coming home from work. Seems strange seeing Robert Carlyle in this after seeing him Trainspotting, 2 completely different characters.

Chris C

Yeah the football shirt Gary's wearings is Sheffield United (aka The Blades)

Jeremy Smith

When they're queueing and dancing is when you used to (certainly in some parts of the country) wait in the dole queue, bit of an outdated term for unemployment or state welfare benefits. Like when Gary says to his wife "I'm on the dole if you haven't noticed!". Not sure back then but used to for ages get Β£72 a week, every two weeks and had what's called 'sign on' every two and its paid every two weeks.

Jeremy Smith

Been to see Sheffield United play a number of times, plus also the band Def Leppard are originally from there. Rather sort of ironically Def Leppards first ever gig was in a place related to making cutlery out of steel, being they were from Sheffield originally. Also seen the Toon (Newcastle United) play away at Sheff Wed (Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, where the late Steve Clark was born was Hillsborough. Rick Savage I believe tried out for think it was United when rather he supports Wednesday (could be the other way round).

Jeremy Smith

Yeah he shud defo do Withnail and I he'd love it

Chorlton Outlaw

I find it funny that the posh guy who plays general Cornwallis in The Patriot and the British villain in Rush Hour, playing a guy with a thick northern accent, then I find out he's actually from Yorkshire .

Jehan Ariyaratnam

Rise of the footsoldier, you shall not be disappointed, if you are I will give you 20 finest pounds

Aaron

Boomer, the beeping is probably a loose USB connection somewhere.

Jay

Why does that matter? If you don't like it, don't watch.

Jay

Thanks for recommending this. I haven't heard of it but just added it to my watchlist.

James Pepper

they did a follow up series that literally came out a few months ago well worth a watch and its only 1 fairly short season

Matt Camburn

The Commitments is a great movie if you haven’t already seen it

Stephen Giles

Took you an hour to recognise Denzel! he is a lot older in this though

Jay D

The scene where it shows you the dance sequence from Flashdance was actually performed by a man, so if you have seen the film and find that part exciting you now know it was for a bloke :)

Daz

Hi boomer that was denzel from only fools I did say it was one to watch with queen brilliant movie 🍿 another one to watch the van very funny British film

Stewart Thomas

Sounds like you have a loose USB and it keeps connecting and disconnecting.

mattosh79

you should definatly let the queen see this movie , other movies to react to ; brassed off, withnail and i , a room for romeo brass , the crying game , life is sweet , wish you were here , shallow grave , in the name of the father and baby driver just a few to start you off.

tricky D77

Not a great film imo. Pretty poor.

Chris

lol, every time your PC was beeping I thought it was mine. I have a flash drive in, so I was worried it was popping out.

This was set when all of our manufacturing industries were closed down. Sheffield was our steel capital, nearly everyone who lived in Sheffield had a job within the steel industry. The unemployment rate went through the roof for years. Even to this day many areas of Britain never recovered (especially up north) and are still home to extreme poverty and lack of employment opportunities. You need to watch Brassed Off to get a better idea of the effect. It's a similar film to this, it's comedy, but it's also sad and heartwarming

Clare Hollylee

Awesome! It's funny, this movie came out when I was 13 and I was sort of forced to watch it under protest. And I didn't rate it that much because of it being about guys stripping etc. But I rewatched it a couple of years ago and found a new appreciation for it. It's pretty deep, and also nostalgic. too. I was about the same age as Nathan when it first came out. And now I'm probably older than Robert Carlyle was when he did this movie.
