Man Down S2 Ep4 "Diversity" (Un-Cut) REACTION!

This reminded me of a South Park episode.
I lived in a small village for a while on my travels that did 'Wassailing' and the blackface is not like American old showbiz blackface, its more like a Morris dance to symbolise the changing of the season from Autum to winter and to encourage a good harvest the following summer, the black face is to symbolise the dark morris of the spirits and not a black person

Great reaction, thank you!
Nesta was wearing what is supposed to be traditional Morris dancing clothes (though in reality they look very different). Morris dancing is a form of English folk dance that dates back to the Middle Ages. A controversial aspect of Morris dancing, largely confined to the Border Morris tradition near the England-Wales border, involves the use of blackface.
That tradition may go back over 500 years. This practice was historically adopted not for racial mockery, but as a form of disguise when begging, though some historians think it was more of a 19th century invention linked to the Black Minstrel tradition. Many Morris dancing groups have discontinued it to avoid racial insensitivity.

No word of a lie, it's my favourite show from the last decade. It's wonderful. And I've been around the block a bit. The performances across the board are great. It's an utter gem.
This episode especially was somewhat of a doozy for me because I've been on one of those courses (not because I was ordered to, but just a part of "mandatory training" everyone had to do) - but the injustice here of Dan being paired with "Tegun" (as lovely as she was in her own way) whom he couldn't even communicate with through no fault of his own, was all too real. The "one size fits all" approach to these sort of courses are frankly stupid. Still, ticks some boxes I guess.

It's a dangerous decision to be drinking beverages during a Man Down episode. Be careful KB, we don't want to see you choking or drenching your computer equipment.
