Fawlty Towers S1 Ep5 "Gourmet Night" REACTION!

The Duck Man is insane!

Fawlty Towers S1 Ep5 "Gourmet Night" REACTION!

Comments

In the summer of 1975, our neighbours' son, who was 18, a year older than me, went to the recording of this episode. Nobody had heard of Fawlty Towers yet, he told me it was hilarious & I should look out for it. After it was broadcast he told me that in studio the other guests threw the trifle over Basil at the end, I suppose they thought it didn't work & edited it out, hence the sudden ending.

A ducking good laugh. πŸ¦† πŸ˜‚

Well done King Boomer for outsourcing your video editing time to someone else which gives you back much needed time especially with Muppet Boomer on the way. If you are doing this via fiverr just remember as the editor becomes more popular they may up their prices so you need to be good at unearthing new editors and thankfully there are plenty to choose from. 'Drink! Feck! Arse! Girls!

Fekin Greeks.

Z is for Zed

You missed the "Farty Towels" sign at the opening credits. You gotta keep an eye out for them, couple are absolute crackers

It’s only the movie reactions that take forever. Everything else I can still do myself. But I’m testing to see if I get it back edited in a way I like first before I go through with it. If it goes well I can free up a lot of time for other reactions.

It’s the next episode

FatSam25

More Peep Show? πŸ₯Ή

Elliot G.

I think you'd really enjoy the film - Clockwise. John Cleese vintage comedy.

James

I hope the editing works out, trying to film and edit must be really draining, and we would love more reactions if it's works out

David fallows

Cool news about the editing, hope it works out.

James

This is the first episode where I understood the true genius of the show, I mean I freaking love EVERY episode but when he thrashes his car, damn, that floored me, the first time, and now this is probably the 20th time I've watched it still floors me, but the next episode, well, I just know you're going to lose it, it's that funny!

"Sinclair died in Torquay around late September or early October 1981, at age 72; an article in The Daily Telegraph on 3 November said that he had died five weeks earlier.[2][11] According to The Spectator, his death, from a heart attack and stroke, resulted from an event in August when "some workmen he'd upset painted his patio furniture and car gunmetal grey during the night."[12][13] The workmen in question were later sentenced to four months in jail for property damage.[14] Beatrice died 29 years later in September 2010; they are survived by their two daughters"

I love how you can hear the audience's anticipation right before the lid is lifted off the tray. If you watch the final scene closely you can see Prunella Scales (Sybil) corpsing as Basil starts rummaging through the trifle, which is quite fun. The editing in Fawlty Towers is often pretty slapdash, a stagehand is also visible behind the doors when Kurt sends Basil crashing through them.

Basil was based on Donald Sinclair manager of Gleneagles Hotel in Torquay, just without the eccentricness lol. Was a hotel Cleese was staying at when touring with Monty Python, he died sadly (Sinclair did) lol when he pissed off some workmen who came back during the dead of night and decided to paint the pool furniture gun metal gray, from which he died of a heart attack lol. He strongly believed Idle's suitcase had a bomb in it, just became a nuissance to them so most of them left, but Cleese and I believe Connie Booth remained there and which they both wrote Basil based on him lol.

I made a comment on one of your videos a while back above hiring an editor, there's got to be a time when the money coming in will allow for it, but I understand it's a scary proposition when you're so used to doing everything yourself, but if it turns out to be viable, which I hope it is, image the time it'll free up, I hope it works out well for you!

Mark Jones

You seriously need to see the Germans episode, has me crying!

Jeremy Smith

Kills me laughing that bit!

Jeremy Smith

The rude kid looks like Jim from the Bill..
