Father Ted S3 Ep8 "Going To America" (Un-Cut) REACTION!

We will miss Father Ted... :'(

RIP Dermot Morgan

Father Ted S3 Ep8 "Going To America" (Un-Cut) REACTION!

Comments

an idiot abroad season 2 would be good. it's definitely the best season by far!

Peter Reid

Can't fucking believe it's 25 years since Dermot Morgan passed. I'm old enough to remember seeing it announced on GMTV just before I went to school : (

I-Love-My-Brick

I love when Doris sings it at the barbecue in Gavin and Stacey 😆

YerDaSellsAvon

I much prefer Black Books too. I have tried watching IT Crowd again with Embrace The Suck 21 and it's amusing but not on the same level as Father Ted or Black Books imo.

ZedMC

Both are worth watching but Derry girls is the better of the two

Yaapsdad

You mentioned The IT crowd and Derry girls.

Yaapsdad

Good lord, I agree. BBT is atrocious.

Elliot G.

I don't really believe that, or a lot of these things Stephen Fry comes out with. I'm not trying to be argumentative or anything, but I just don't buy it. It's a pretty strong diaretic and it causes you to urinate a lot.

Elliot G.

Queen Boomer, the amount of water in the Tea is several times more Hydrating than the caffine is Dehydrating. Our Overlord Stephen Fry said so on the show QI.

Daniel Heywood

If you want to watch another series the Father Ted writers contributed to the IT Crowd is a good choice, but I'd go for Black Books. I prefer it and I'd say it's more your sense of humour. Plus its three main stars are all people you've already reacted to.

SJB

It’s going to be 3 more weeks sorry 🤪 (jokes 😛)

Benji

There are some great making of Father ted and outtakes on YouTube

Mike Doel

Would love you to carry on with idiot abroad king.

Chris

Yeah, he replied to one of my comments on YouTube about it crowd, he said he has seen everyone asking for it, and that it’s in his list, so hopefully it’s next 🙌🏼

Ricky

Yeah, he replied to one of my comments on YouTube about it crowd, he said he has seen everyone asking for it, and that it’s in his list, so hopefully it’s next 🙌🏼

Ricky

The ETS21 boys are loving the IT Crowd at the moment. It is very much the King and Queens humour

Graham Rodgers

IT Crowd is a must - really funny series - I think you'd both enjoy it. Similar humour to Father Ted in a different setting. Black Books also worth a watch.

muu041

Your Irish followers are going to go mental

Erica

in England it's snakes and ladders

Chay Davenport

you're carrying a baby darling it's very hard and well done show it love and affection

Chay Davenport

Chay Davenport

Chay Davenport

my pepe looks like a gun. sorry

Chay Davenport

the greatest place on earth is the island UK Wales Scotland and my home England

Chay Davenport

the first show were we sore queeny was karl pilkinton teach English lovely to see the bump btw the baby boomer growing well good luck queeny xx

Chay Davenport

Thank you, yes exactly

Silly Uncle Andy Farmer

I was about to comment this too, it rounds off the series nicely with a bit of behind the scenes and such, seeing people out of character etc.

LyingSecret

king boomer don't forget the making of father ted video! it is on youtube, please react to it plus 1 more jingle by QB. Its called Small, Far Away

Andy Farmer

Yes, do the IT Crowd, and honestly, you've not got long left to finish Friday Night Dinner

Aaron

Great show, another favourite of mine, would love to see a reaction to it

Mark Jones

The two closest comedies to Father Ted are I.T. Crowd and Black Books, mostly written by the creator of Father Ted. Don't let the geek thing put you off from watching I.T. Crowd, as it doesn't solely rely on geek jokes like The Big Bang Theory.

Jay

Spaced is also one of my all time favourites, but it really doesn't translate very well to U.S. viewers. I watched Josh from After Work Reactions' reaction to it, and the majority of British culture jokes (which I think makes the show so good) were lost on him.

Jay

I was thinking "Hey... that Davey Crockett song is pretty upbeat and cheerful", but then I looked it up and wiki said it's genre was Folk, though Tennessee Ernie Ford's version charted in the Country genre. I gave it a listen and its way, way more miserable than the fun Fess Parker version. So I guess I agree about Country being miserable as all hell.

Kirk Deighton

1 of the best and underrated shows ever!

Jake Lol

Derry girls is awesome... But I live there so I might be biased. Plus you won't understand the Derry accent lol

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

It’s been Epic watching this again with you 2. Thanks for the laughs. I’d like to say I’d miss it but I still watch it regularly or just have it in in the back ground.

Pee-Wee Stairmaster

Im Alan Partridge IT Crowd Gimme Gimme Gimme Derry Girls aim at those

Pete Owen

When this was first on TV that episode was hard to watch cause we all knew it was the end

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

just been listening to that song and then saw this comment lol

The Everything Guy

The IT Crowd for definite, it has the same type of crazy circumstances humour.

Iain Wallace

Would love to see him get around to Spaced one day, one of my all time favourite shows

Mark Jones

When i was a kid i thought this was meant to be the last episode as it is sort of rather fitting with Ted wanting to leave but deciding to stay and the "Forever, Forever, Forever...". It was only til I was in my mid teens where someone told me bout the sad news. I think IT Crowd is the best option, same writer and the same wackiness you love bout this. Black Books is the next one by the same guy but it's much more grounded and less sort of cartoony then FT if you know what i mean. I think Spaced is another good option as you've watched the Cornetto Trilogy together and see where it all started. Never seen the Derry Girls but heard ok things

Matt

The IT Crowd for sure

Nothinghalo

We used set Father Ted to record on Friday then go out for a night of hard house and techno. We'd all pile back after, absolutely trollied and watch it. I loved the 90's 🥳

Martin N

A great series reaction, thank you! What a great show.

Ash X

It hasn't aged well. I used to think it was hilarious as a kid back when it was on, so I tried watching it again a couple of years ago and it was shocking.

Martin N

i don't know if any one has mentioned DESMOND'S...???

Bubbles

Very sad we lost a treasure morgan died

Tim Salt (Tim Salt Writes)

Please, please react to the Father Ted documentary 'Small, Far Away - The World Of Father Ted'. It's quite amusing and really heartwarming.

Steve Read

Even the show (ideal) with Johnny vegas would be good

Ricky

I love a good excuse to watch the IT Crowd!

Steve G

“Speak prieeesst!” 😂

Ricky

Yeah, he did reply to one of my comments on YouTube, he said he has seen everyone ask for it, and that it is in his list, so hopefully it’s next

Ricky

Would definitely recommend the IT Crowd - same writing team as Father Ted, same type of humour, just replacing priests with IT misfits. Also, Derry Girls, another Irish show, often labelled as the female Inbetweeners (Michelle is Jay, Orla is Neil etc) but it has a lot more heart.

Tim Mountford

Wasn't it changed from snakes for the American audiences because the guy thought kids would be scared of them or something?

Z is for Zed

The crew said that that they thought Dermot looked really unwell, he flew back to London a day later he was gone. Very sad

Mike Doel

Dermot died the day after filming the last episode (of an heart attack). He was only 45. Which insanely young to be dying of such a thing. Very sad.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

That's it no more father Ted it's going to be strange. Queen Boomer you can still drink tea... Yorkshire do decaf.

Bubbles

Yes 👍👍👍 that would be his favorite

Bubbles

If you're looking for more series to consider, I'd recommend: Good Omens (a fantasy comedy series with a great cast). Broadchurch (an addictive who done it mystery). Derry Girls (it's been compared to a female Inbetweeners), And Fleabag (seems to be popular in the states, it's a dry witty comedy set in London). These are all relatively short series like Father Ted.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

Loved watching all these with you two, one of my all-time favourite shows. The final scene of this episode was supposed to be the suicidal priest on another ledge, but with Ted alongside him this time, however, it was considered distasteful due to Dermot Morgan's death not long after. Also, there is a fantastic documentary, called Small, Far Away - The World of Father Ted, that is still on YouTube, filmed about 10/15 years ago, featuring interviews with the cast and writers. Definitely well worth a watch.

nwall89

Ah that will teach me for commenting before I watch the reaction 😀 Alan Partridge gets my vote (with Black Books a close second).

ZedMC

Apparently Dermot Morgan died the day after they filmed the scene where Father Ted is jumping around trying to cheer up Father Kevin (played by the famous Irish stand up Tommy Tiernan). Tommy Tiernan couldn't get the faces right which meant Dermot Morgan ended up having to jump around for quite a while. At the funeral, Ardal O Hanlon (Dougal) apparently told Tommy Tiernan (as a joke) "you killed Father Ted, you bastard" (or words to that effect!)

Anthony Donegan

There is a making of documentary called Small, Far Away - The World Of Father Ted which is fun.

Mark Jones

If you are missing Father Ted, then it is worth checking out the writers' sketch show Big Train... It has a cast that includes Mark Heap and Tracey Ann Obermann (Jim and Auntie Val from Friday Night Dinner) and Simon Pegg, with additional material provided by Mark and Jez from Peep Show. I'd say its mainly sketches of the extremely weird set pieces from Father Ted (like the hamster on the mini bike) so it may be worth checking out a sketch or two...

Anthony Donegan

Think he said he's seen office and Extras already, but would love to see Alan partridge for sure.

David Williams

You'd love The Smiths Boomer: "And if a double-decker bus" "Crashes into us" "To die by your side" "Is such a heavenly way to die" "And if a ten tonne truck" "Kills the both of us" "To die by your side" "Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine" A British Indie classic!

Mark Jones

IT crowd is great and definitely one QB will enjoy.

Jon

Would love to see I'm Alan Partridge, the UK Office or Extras next. All are only 2 series long so not such a huge commitment for you like Peep Show or OFAH.

ZedMC

Farewell to a very good show. Would still love to see you watch Spaced if you're after something to replace this in your schedule.

David Williams

Heart breaking that he passed away the day after they finished filming this episode, RIP Dermot, I've watched the final episode half a dozen times and it still gets me every time, I've really enjoyed watching you guys react to it though, it's been hilarious! The IT Crowd would be a great next show seeing as it's by the same writer/director.

Mark Jones

💯 💯

Pee-Wee Stairmaster

I'm sure Black Books has been recommended. Written by the same team as Father Ted and equally as good.

ade rumbold

agreed. i'd say the IT Crowd is on par with Father Ted which makes sense considering it was made by the same person. brilliant show

basedpilled

league of gentlemen next please

tricky D77

Or after Fawlty Towers you'll love another classic Some Mothers Do Ave Em as it's slapstick comedy at its finest with Michael Crawford who did his own stunts on the show 🤣

Luke Fisher

It was called (the transatlantic accent) a mixture between British and American, people used to get lessons on how to speak like that back in the day

Ricky

Gimme Gimme Gimme reaction next you'll get a kick out of reacting to Kathy Burke again king boomer 😂

Luke Fisher

Should start (IT CROWD) next 🙂
