My father abandoned my mother, myself age 8 and my 2 younger sisters in pursuit of green bottles and loose women. he drunkenly stumbled into the harbor and drowned back in 2013. he never attended any school plays, school concerts, confirmations, graduations or even birthdays. im 34 and i wish it was something you could get over but it haunts me every day. always lurks to jump on you as soon as im just a bit happy. and forget about felling like you have any worth. Even though i have a fantastic mother both my sisters and i suffer from complex ptsd from having a punitive, absent alcoholic father. He tried to reach out years and years later but fuck that, it was way to late for that.

Interesting that your friend had something similar happen to him. Thanks for sharing that - you're a nice man. Never trust an absent father returning out of the blue for seemingly no reason. A couple of interesting things to come regarding Del's relationship with Reg, but they are off the cuff remarks but it's worth remembering this episode just to catch those later - often many seasons later. No spoilers though.

OFAH is a comedy through and through but I do like it when they do those genuinely emotive drama scenes. The way they flip from comedic to straight so seamlessly is testament indeed to the actors' skills.
