After series 2 he moved up to Scotland, by the time No. 3 came along he couldn't be arsed to come down to do the job, so he quit. They ended up bringing in Hattie from the last series to fill his shoes.

2023-08-24 21:39:01 +0000 UTCFor me season 3 and the introduction of Robert Llwellyn as Kryten I believe really ramped up the quality of the comedy on Red Dwarf. You're in for a good few laughs with upcoming episodes now!! Still a decent show to this very day but for me the best of the show were the episodes of season 3 through to about season 7. After that i personally thought it kinda lost its way a bit and the writing wasn't getting the laughs the show used to. But still very much worth a watch all the same, you've defo got some laughs coming your way bud!! Enjoy!! Keep up the good work fella, may sound strange but seeing you and the queen just laugh an smile so much really does make me genuinely happy inside, so thank you both for that!! Perfect couple as well btw and was made up to hear the news about ya getting hitched and having a little baby boomer!!! I really think Queen Boomer might be the one!! 🤣 Good job bud. We'd been watching RD since the start in Feb 1988, but could only re-watch S1 and S2 episodes when the VHS releases appeared a few years later. They were happy days though.

Pretty sure that was Rob Grant as well who's shown sucking smoke in to his ciggy. Very nostalgic, the orange and brown livery on those GM Buses. Weird to see in that context, remember this on broadcast when I was 12 in 1990!
