Peep Show S4 Ep4 "Handyman" (Un-Cut) REACTION!

Mark and Jeremy AKA "The Wankers".  Second day in a row of me leaving the chair in hysterics!

Peep Show S4 Ep4 "Handyman" (Un-Cut) REACTION!

Comments

Flid is short for thalidomide. A rather unpleasant term referencing the infamous drug

Jamie

wtf does hoovering meam in the stated? I got a thought going through my mind!

Chay Davenport

In the United States, 'Hoovering' means......Building a Hydroelectric Dam - In England, it was the only good brand of Vacuum Cleaner in the pre-2000's so the name just kind of stuck.

Daniel Heywood

Are you joking poor QB won’t sleep for a week worrying about the dog

Erica

He won’t like the dog theme

Erica

I don’t think you’re wrong I’ll bet he doesn’t like it. Thing is I’m a big animal lover but I still found it entertaining as it just demonstrates how mad Jeremy is and how low he will go. I think this shows the difference between the culture of UK and US humour. No one is wrong I just hope it doesn’t put him off the show as the wedding episode is very funny

Erica

bit of an overstatement, most people in britain aren't bullies.

Peter Reid

Yeah for sure, first time i watched that scene i had been binge watching the show and had to take a break for a week afterwards, much funnier when i know what's coming now though and i can prepare myself for the trauma haha

Sarah Garraway

Yeah the dog death won’t go down well

Erica

Queen really really needs to be around for the season finale

Living in escape

Was going to comment with the exact same thing. It's one of my go-to epsiodes especially because of aftermath of THAT scene but yeah it might derail the humour given previous thoughts. I can imagine it being a case of "I appreciated the jokes but..."

John Sellers

I had to check what the next episode was (bad memory), but yeah, I can see what you mean.

LyingSecret

Everyone's pumped about the next episode reaction, but I'm actually not sure what you'll make of it. No spoilers, but there's a certain plot device that I'm not sure you'll find funny based on your past reactions to similar devices. I could be wrong though. Looking forward to the next reaction!

Jay

Loved this reaction King but PLEASE x1000 get the Queen in on the next Peep Show episode!!! It’s Marks Stag do and it’s the one EVERYONE has been waiting on since you started this series!!!!!! Much love from a Scottish dude living in Australia x

Jamie Keira

The dinner party is hands down the best ever episode. Season 9, Ep 3. The Stag Do coming up is a close second.

Doug Farrington

It's just more depraved I think and I like that.

Stephen Smith

A lot of my favourite episodes are from S8 and S9,,, especially where everything is "Morrocan" and noone can prove otherwise haha.

Stephen Smith

I dunno I guess I just love the breakdown of everything haha

Stephen Smith

The reference to the ‘Glenn Close type’ is an allusion to the film Fatal Attraction aka the original bunny boiler

Ash C

A life of truancy from day 1, Billy?

Ash C

I know it's been said a lot but please give Fresh Meat a chance.

Raul

Can’t wait for the next two episodes

Joe

My bad, I meant when I heard the discord notifications

Ryan Broadley

Does that mean you were uploading porn?

Billy Rockets

Great shot 🤣

Max Sloan

Spod was acceptable as a drop in for nerd briefly in the late 90s/early 2000s, at least among the people online, Charlie Brooker's SuperKaylo, NTK, b3ta, Pop Bitch etc. would use the term. The thalidomide explanation has been given.

Kirk Deighton

Is hoovering sniffing drugs? As we sometimes call it that too, if you have a mate who likes to do it a lot you might call them 'henry hoover'

Sarah Garraway

I've never worn a school uniform in my life.

Billy Rockets

Jehan Ariyaratnam

I think it's definitely all 'funny' with plenty of laugh out loud moments, but the story definitely goes into repeat for the last 2 or 3 series with many episodes that feel like 'they've done this before'.

David Williams

i was checking my discord like crazy lol

Ryan Broadley

If im thinking right the next episode is the stag do episode.. probably the greatest episode of peep show there is 😆

Charlie Stuart

I’d say 4 is the peak, 5 is still classic Peep Show, then it trends downward with a few great moments here and there

Mark Fraser

Well you learn something new. This whole time I thought the joke was that Mark’s daft meaningless nickname was a combination of two other daft meaningless nicknames. Because when you’re the unpopular kid being called literally anything will wind you up if they mock you enough with it.

Mark Fraser

Really? I was gonna give a trigger warning. I recall King and Queen Boomer not liking that bit in the Inbetweeners where Jay flattens a squirrel in his car because it was mugging him off lol

Kit Taylor

We actually do have non-uniform schools. They're just incredibly rare and I believe most of them are private boarding schools. I only know coz my cousin went to one. There certainly weren't any in the area I grew up.

Kit Taylor

We don't have schools where you don't wear uniforms. Public and private both have uniforms here. We have to wear uniforms from reception. Kindergarten is "year 1" in the UK, and reception is the year before year 1.

Chay Davenport

The next episode is probably the best of the lot! I wasnt prepared for it my first time watching. I think Queen Boomer needs to watch it too Its one hell of an episode PS, hoovering probs means sniffing in the US? over here it means vacuuming, but hey, its all the same haha

Pete Owen

100%. And yep, the next two episodes are real treats. Can't wait.

Dean Carter

Hoovering probably means blow job to you degenerates.

Billy Rockets

Flid was a term used a few decades back and is still used by some people I know. (Mainly older people) it’s pretty offensive though. Its a short name for thalidomide which was a drug used in hospitals that caused birth defects I think. Not acceptable in todays society like almost every other insult

J W

Trivia fill-ins from this episode for KB 1. "Blair's Oil Wars" - refers to our then prime minister Tony Blair sending loads of our men to perish in Iraq. 2. "hoovering" - best guess it means doing coke in the US. Here it means vacuuming. Also refers to a narcissist ex trying to draw or "hoover" you back after you dumped them in with their BS charm act 3. I didn't even know spod and flid were real terms either and I live here, but apparently reading above comments, they were in the 80s and 90s

Oliver

I don't know, it does lose it in the last season or two imo, still perfectly watchable but nowhere near as great from 4, maybe 3, maybe even 2

Matt

Spod and Flid are real, Flod was made up for the show. Flid comes from Thalidomide, UK initially called someone that who suffered from that condition where they have the little stumpy arms and/or legs from their mothers taking that drug Thalidomide before it became basically a schoolyard term for Retard. Next two are even better.

Matt

"People were putting porn on the Discord server." This is what happens when you've got exposed elbows in your videos, people get all riled up!

Z is for Zed

The show hits peak this season and maintains it until the very end imo. S04 through S09 are all amazing. S01-S03 are great too but once S04 hits it seems like everything is set in place with respect to character development, filming style and writing.

Stephen Smith

Spod's definitely a thing I've seen in print somewhere. Not sure if it was Dad's old Young Ones book thing or something like Viz, but it certainly predates Peep Show.

Z is for Zed

OK what is hoovering in America would i need too ask google for this question

Bubbles

i watched this episode 2 weeks ago on Netflix i laughed at the super hands wanking remark. episode 6 is really good which is the last one. right after episode 5

Bubbles

Showing my age now, but Flid and Spod were commonly used insults in the playground during the late 80's, early 90's. Flod is a term invented for this show though.

Jay

I'm not sure Flod, Flid or Spod are actual British terms, just something unique to Mark.

Wilss

Never call anyone a Flid, it means Thalidomide and was a common derogatory term back in the day, but it's not a term which goes down well in polite society these days.

Mark Jones

The club they go to is a School Disco club, which was a branded/themed club night popular in the 2000s that was all throwback music and where people wore school uniform as fancy dress more than anything. It all died out about a decade ago when the people who went started getting too old to go to clubs and the novelty had worn off; millennials never really got into the whole School Disco thing for some reason, maybe because our teen years were a bit shit. People don't wear school uniforms to reunions, but in public schools - which in the UK means a very elite private school, ironically - old boys (and probably girls) often wear their old school ties to reunions.

Charlie

love the peep show reactions
