A spooky episode that was a pleasant surprise for me.

One of my favorite episodes, top 5 for sure

Justyn

Weird ending. So sudden.

Adam Grant

The ending of this one you're supposed to understand that Del has it all under control.

Andrew Powell

Penzance

Rob webber

I still think it’s cool that the guy playing the axe murderer was the same guy who played rogue 2 in the empire strikes back.

James Dowling

Snooker is similar to pool. The ending ended on a positive joke. The Axe man preferred to lose. So del boy bet him £10 a game for the winner...... typical del boy always thinking of money making ideas. Lol

Charlie Costa

I think every American I've seen reacting to this episode has laughed at the Barratts joke, so maybe they're hearing it as something else. Maybe Parrots?? Not sure why that would be funny though.

Tom

devon more. More pirates came from devon

Lydia

Maybe Barratts went to make houses in America too. Yeah I was surprised to find out snooker isn't a thing in the USA

Jehan Ariyaratnam

The accent the police officer had is Cornish, similar to Somerset (Hot Fuzz accent) but not quite the same. Cornish is typically the accent pirates are portrayed as having in films and TV, due to the prevalence of smuggling in Cornwall in the early modern period.

Joe

When Rodney opens the curtain and sees the face, one of the audience members screams for real it sounds like

i think the reason it ended so abrupt is because Del can even con an axe murderer =)

Mr Robot

What the actual fuck you've never heard of Ronnie O' Sullivan King Boomer c'mon ta fuck

Snooker originated in the second half of the 19th century.[3] In the 1870s, billiards was popular among British Army officers stationed in Jubbulpore, India, and several variations of the game were devised during this time.[3][4] A similar game, which originated at the Officers' Mess of the 11th Devonshire Regiment in 1875,[5][6] combined the rules of two pool games: pyramid pool, played with fifteen red balls positioned in a triangle; and black pool, which involved the potting of designated balls.[7][8][9] Snooker was further developed in 1882 when its first set of rules was finalised by British Army officer Sir Neville Chamberlain,[a][5][10] who helped devise and popularise the game at Stone House in Ootacamund on a table built by Burroughes & Watts that had been brought to India by boat.[11][12] The word snooker was, at the time, a slang term used in the British Army to describe new recruits and inexperienced military personnel; Chamberlain used it to deride the inferior performance of a young fellow officer at the table

Amanda

I honestly think there's a rule in Monopoly that the game has to end that way, in 35yrs Ive never seen it end any different than the board getting tipped over

Pete Owen

Yes yes it is… Cornwall :)

Mike Doel

The end is pretty abrupt, but I wonder if it's one of those things where the game of imaginary snooker is in your head, and to actually write it wouldn't be funny, or as funny as you imagine.

Charlie

I’ve never in my life come across an adult who doesn’t know what snooker is… do you not have snooker in the US?? You haven’t heard of snooker but you laughed at the “Barratts” line? Hmm interesting😅

Sam Dilks

Nah that's it, no follow up, sort of ends with the idea that Del is conning the madman. I'm surprised you've never heard of Snooker? I always thought it was worldwide? Its sort of similar to Pool which I know Americans have. There's sticks/cues and balls and you pot them into the holes on the side and corners.

Matt

This was probably the first episode of OFAH that was a bit 'out there' in terms of concept, pushing the boundaries of credibility. I think there was a good idea behind this episode, just the execution was a bit off, and the pacing struggled in a 30min window. The final five episodes of series 3, four regular ones plus the Christmas episode, are all superb. Hope your holiday (sorry, vacation!) was good.

Joshua

8:00 - Yes, it's a Westcountry accent, commonly spoken in Cornwall/Devon/Somerset/Bristol/Gloucester. There's a good song - Combine Harvester by The Wurzels - which is sung in a Westcountry accent.

Joshua

The ending was basically to show Del can turn any situation into an earner. Snooker is a table game, like Pool, but with complex rules (which i don't claim to understand) and a larger table. Not sure if anyone said before but the 3-wheeled van was actually really popular over here right up into the 90's. They were cheap and could be driven on a car or a motorcycle licence.

Steve Read

Snooker is similar to Pool. I think they left it like that so the audience assumes that Del won money off the murderer winning on imaginary games of Pool until the police arrived. Not one of my favourite episodes I have to say, but enjoyed your reaction!

Amber Steward

You had the same reaction as some other reactors to the ending of this one. It was a bit abrupt but I think the overall vibe of the episode was meant to be comedic rather than scary. It is a bit of a silly storyline but all light hearted fun. The ending is supposed to depict even in potentially life threatening circumstances, Dels instinct is still to try and hustle for money. The accent of the policemen in the episode is the West Country accent. Cornwall is the most south western county in England. The accent sounds like how farmers talk. If you listen to Stephen Merchant he has the accent as well, he's from Bristol where it's generally watered down a bit but his is still quite thick.

Jehan Ariyaratnam

Great episode with the spooky vibe, but kind of a let down with the ending. I think it was around this time that David Jason started asking for longer episodes so they could have more time to tell the stories.

AWR93

could be just me but of all the episodes this was my least favourite. Next Season onwards this show took off in a good way for me
