Top Gear "Vietnam Special" REACTION!

The events may be staged, but the banter is not, which makes it perfectly worthwhile for me

I would go to London for one day to see some cool sights but I agree with the OP. The real beauty is in the countryside. Can't help it, I'm a country girl. London and the other big cities terrify me. I know both the Boomers have mention they're not city folk.

8 mins in and yeah, I've been baffled by their inflation ever since I saw this episode live. I don't know what the cheapest think would be over there. A bottle of water? A tin of pees? But you'd need a huge wad of cash just to buy the simplest things. It's hard to imagine.

The ruling (and only) party is literally called The Communist Party of Vietnam. It is Communist all be it with a twist. Like China they are increasingly introducing elements of of Capitalism. I see your point but they are officially Communist.

I'm certainly by no means a 'car guy' I'm a football fan (soccer)I find males are normally one or the other in the UK as their main hobby/enjoyment however top gear is much more than just cars, especially the specials. It's 3 good mates being dicks and having a laugh with elements of cars running through it. I'd recommend all the specials as they were big budget and produced as comedy more than a car information program. Cheers boomer

Beatles way more style and genre variety and artistic output and influence in only 6/7 years of making music... Stones lasted way longer but did a lot less. Stones made 30 odd albums but very few come close to any of the beatles albums released from 65-69 But they're both English so I can't complain haha

I know you don't want to do too much Top Gear. But if you only do one other Top Gear, it should be the Botswana special. I think it's better than the Vietnam one you've just done

I enjoyed that, great reaction and a pleasant surprise, back in the day I'd always look forward to the TopGear Xmas special, they were fun to watch over the holidays, in the normal series they also had regular mini challenges too which they kept revisiting throughout a normal episode, some were just awesome, racing trains vs cars vs motorbikes vs airplanes (James is also a pilot) vs speedboats vs bicycles vs public transport etc.

Got to disagree with you there Chay! London is one of the most historical and culturally important cities in the world (and I say that as a proud Northener!). Yeah there's a load of tacky tourist crap (as there is in any major city), but there's loads of interesting stuff to explore with a bit of research before visiting.

I hope you do decide to do more top gear even if it's just the specials like this which I enjoy far more anyway, maybe even check out the grand tour because the episodes are more akin to this format.

I'm not into cars in the slightest, but love Top Gear with these guys, particularly the specials. It's 5% cars 95% muppetry. Vietnam is fantastic, we went on a tour from North to South about ten years ago, had an amazing time. Crossing the road in Ho Chi Minh is an adventure to say the least!

The old Top Gear specials are some of the very best tv programmes ever made. And the Vietnam special is right at the top of that list. I love all the specials but in particular: India, Bolivia and the Africa/Nile special - all really worth checking out and reacting to for us please😉😀

sorry duck racing is a annual event in most villages or towns where a stream/river travels trough where most house holds get a rubber duck and paint it or design them. then you a put them in the river for a race. great days and great sport
