If you hadn’t seen it you wouldn’t have the background, season 2 is good, season 3 even more so, strangely unlike most series which tend to fade away Red dwarf just gets better, the film, i think season 11 is a bit weak but other than that , this is cult comedy :)

There is an actor change when Kryten returns, David Ross plays Kryten in this episode, British comedian/actor Robert Llewellyn takes over permanently next season. You may remmber him from the Bottom episode where he plays the Falkland veteran with wooden leg. The actor has a British accent, but I think I read somewhere he put on a canadian accent to play the role of Kryten.
