The first time you meet Kryton he is different and is played by a different actor. You see him as a human a number of times thought the series. He also plays kryptons creator.

I think there is a lot of English references though, some UK politics and the Falklands war which was obviously a bigger thing for us then you. It also has my favourite line... cry did you? 2023-05-04 21:18:44 +0000 UTCDamn! You beat me to it Oliver👍. You're right, he does play Kryten in Red Dwarf, but not at first. Another actor plays him to begin with, and from what I remember, that Kryten was rubbish. It's not until Llewelyn takes over the role that Kryten becomes brilliant.

For a good film reaction, I'd suggest 'Scum' (1980) starring Ray Winstone. It is the gritty story of life in a boy's borstal which was an early incarnation of young offenders institutions.
