Sonic: IDW Ladies

This video is more about some personal struggles lately.

I just really like hearing you shoot the shit. It'd be great if you could weave that more into your animations. Your one-off animations like the Pokemon "Select Your Partner" video are good too, but they don't have the same juicy substance as your art gripes (not to mention your gripe videos in general tend to be a lot longer).

Sorry to hear that you get so much crap for doing the anime stuff. Your Naruto and Dragonball videos were some of my favorite plague-things to watch, as well as the one on villains. I know that's probably not super great to hear since those obviously took a bit more care and editing than recording a stream of consciousness type thing, especially the villains piece with all the editing you had that guy do for it. But if im being honest those videos in particular were awesome and the reason I became a patreon. (I do also listen to the art-gripes when im at work, so don't think I'm saying they're no good.)

I like the art gripes. It’s good to hear someone else talk about a lot of the stuff I also experience. There’s a lot of empathy there and I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Ryskar

Oh yeah, and that's some fuckin' wizardry you did recovering from the line-merge. Props. The piece came out fantastic, even if you don't consider yourself a great Sonic-style artist!

Ahahaha, as a security guard who spends a third of her shift working on creative projects and hiding her laptop when the boss rolls up, this hits hard. I found you on Twitter through Best Friends and then (IIRC) started supporting as a patron after watching an Art Gripe, so I guess the fun fact here is that I haven't seen your animations or follow your projects very closely. I just happen to appreciate your candid insight on art & media - it looks like many of these patron comments fall in that line.

Well you got me to give ya money stay alive there Sir

My favourite content from you would be the analysis videos, like the villains one and how to write. I much prefer you doing the videos as yourself and not the plague personality. Second to that would be art gripes, video game playthroughs (especially games you are informed on and enjoy.) and streams. Animations are what I’m least interested in. I would look forward to and play scary lessons if you decided to make it but I would prefer regular videos instead. Most of all I appreciate the advice you give and talking about your life experiences, so I can reflect on my own.

I tend to enjoy listening to your content moreso than actively watch you draw stuff, sort of like a edgier Bob Ross. Just listening to your perspective and hear some bleak/inspiring stuff is enough to bring me enjoyment. I think my favorite content you put out are just you talking while drawing stuff like these Art Gripes, though I really enjoyed your conversation with Woolie while he was trying to figure it out. Take care boss!

I made a lengthy comment on youtube but might aswell do a sequel here. I care about your wellbeing and what you decide to do; you'll have my support. The content I like most from you things like Adventures in IRC and Art Gripes, commentary tracks. Things were your unique view of things come through. You have a fun personality and a good voice for radio. Wanting to make grander things but keeping your patrons satisfied with regular content is a tough task. My 2 cents, work on the grand and keep the patrons around with streams, LPs, art gripes, whatever easy content you can put out without running yourself ragged. Or work together with others. If its to work on your creative vision only, money will have to be involved of course. Maybe consider a group collab "hey, we should start a band" situation. I may be talking out my arse, but the arse is where all ideas first start. I'll keep thinking and maybe the idea will work its way up to liver level, perhaps lungs. You'll always have us, Eli.

While I like to see the animations pop up, I mostly enjoy just hearing you talk whether it's Art Gripes, Anime videos, etc. I enjoy your work but a big part of the reason I primarily support you rather than other artists I follow is your personality and how you express your ideas in every piece or content you put out, serious or not. As long as I have the money I'll keep supporting you and I hope you find a solution to balance your life out.

Hello Plague. This video was the one to convince me to join your patreon just today. Your lets gripe videos are the main reason i followed you on youtube as you have casually given some of the best advice I've heard as one of those faceless masses who want to create but don't. I personally think you have a lot of the same experience other people do but have a unique way of finding the right words to express those feelings that don't have a clean dictionary definition. You did more to convince me to give you money on patreon in one gripe video then most people do in their entire career, and the ability to continue that message to other people is way i'm here twice over. I'm sure other people have better ideas on what you could be doing, but if nothing else i would to be part of the solution instead of the problem even if it is purely a financial solution.

As for what I'm interested in (keeping in mind I'm in the "peon" tier): I came for the Bat Baps but I stayed for the art lessons. I like videos like this, they're very "podcast-y" and I pick up a thing or two about art (which I will likely never use.) Personally I'm fine with your output, but if you would like a suggestion perhaps "Mini-Gripes" where only have one highly-specific topic and you just sketch something related. Maybe something towards a finished product, maybe something that gets thrown in the fire after you'r done. Just a 15-minute thing where you're talking about something you want to talk about and drawing something you think might be interesting.

I'm personally okay with people I pledge to going into quiet mode for a while as long as they make it clear they're doing so (otherwise I think they just gave up on the Patreon or got abducted by aliens). Due to budget I can only pledge to about 40 creators at their lowest tier (like your Carrier tier), so my measly contribution is only like a single fast food meal each year. If the creators go silent, even for months, I'm okay continuing to pay because I view it as a sort of "catch up", making up for time when I wasn't pledged, or making up slightly for being a low-tier supporter.

I enjoy pretty much everything you put. I like just putting your Art Gripes in the background and listening to you talk. I do really enjoy your animations, because that's where your sense of humor gets to shine. But if it's killing you on the inside, don't feel like you have to do it. Animatics might be a good middle ground, though I have no idea how much effort that is for you. I wish I had a suggestion for you reaching out to young people, but I'm lacking ideas. The idea of you becoming an actual teacher is incredibly amusing, but you'll probably strangle one of the little bastards before the week is out.

I think you should do more comics of Scary Lessons. They don’t need to be released regularly until they start gaining traction. Nor that long, one to two pages with a quick moral, advice, or a dumb suffice. I think having too many pages would be problematic since you’d be stretching time and you don’t sound like you enjoy working on one thing for long periods of times. I generally enjoy most of your stuff due to your unique sense of humour, writing, and actual personality( Plague of Gripes and you’re real one). Your art gripes are enjoyable to listen to and the finished products are pleasing to look at. I definitely think putting more content of the Scary Lessons girls would help in the long run in the event you do make the game you want as it would build a foundation for a broader fan base and help introduce people to general themes and ideas that would be explored. There’s more I’d like to say but I’ve got things to do and I’ll get back to it later if I can. You one of the few people I actively try to keep supported on Patreon since I think there’s more to you than just the “he say funny things while making questionable sexy thing”.

Love you, sweetbeast.

Hey Plague, I have been a patreon for over 3 years now. I'm one of those people who will support you no matter what you do. I like all the animations, art gripes and twitch streams you do, but that's not why I support you. I support you because I like your ideas (such as Scary Lessons) and your sense of humor more than anything. I would love nothing more than for you to put your talents into a project I could buy, and hopefully you could get enough financial stability that you could leisurely work on your next project without having to worry about patreons telling you to do 5 different things.

This looks really great! Has the art been posted anywhere?
