December Update of Gripes of Plague Kitties

As another year of disappointments and horrors comes to a close, we may look back fondly instead on the knowledge that next year may not be as terrible. But may be. Find optimism where you can. So you know what to avoid in the future.

A couple of Patreon things for you guys to be aware of: The first thing is that Patreon changed the way money is displayed. Before, it just showed what people donated without reflecting how much money Patreon is taking, the money no one gets because cards are declined, and stuff like that. Now, my page instead shows the amount I actually receive a month. (In theory.) As you can see, it's probably way less than you probably maybe sort of thought it was. Patreon users had been complaining about that for a while because it was misrepresenting our living wages. "He's making 4k a month!?" (Nope.) Anyway, just wanted to let you know in case you ever saw the number and it freaked you out that it had gone down so severely.

The second thing is that I've gotten through with this wave of Patron awards. So, if you didn't get anything: 1) be sure you check your messages on the site, 2) be aware that if you asked for nothing, then logically I'd have nothing to draw. So if you haven't gotten a thing, and want a thing, ask for a thing. HOWEVER: I have to explain this quite a few times over each year, but Patreon enables me to be alive and do what I want to do. It's not a commission service or anything. So if you ask in January for a sketch, you might not get it till like, July, or maybe 2053, or maybe Tuesday. I couldn't begin to guess because I'm probably spending that whole month working on some laughably huge project, like the Dark Holes thing. As you get old and tired, like me, months seem closer together than when you're young, because life becomes tiresome drudgery and you just don't notice that you're dying. Right? Yeah. So I also tend to forget "oh yeah, that was half a year ago." Because half a year to us old people isn't very long. Because we're so infirm.

So, to summarize: I am old; Patreon probably isn't lying about my income anymore; feel free to request your drawing awards now if you want, but realize it's going to be secondary to my big ass projects or random picarto streams of bird or spider asses (important work). So, there you have it. Thanks for another year of continuing my ability to feed myself and pay for the repairs to my shitty car that won't start half the time (vaccuum tube? whatever, repair man). Whether you donated $12 over 12 months or $50 in one month, or used twitch alerts to donate $5 with an asinine message about dragons, thanks to all, and a merry non-specific holiday season or not.
