Kaedekin Military Trivia

The Kaedekin Military is divided into 5 Branches, each of which use the same ranks.

These branches are:

• Sky Rangers: This branch specializes in the operation of flying vehicles. They are in charge of of coordinating and controlling air traffic, responding to emergencies in the sky, providing high ground fire support against kaiju and dealing with airborne kaiju. They don't need to do that last very much. It makes them very sad. Branch insignia is a triangle containing a red hawk with outstretched wings... despite there being no birds like that on Surcease.

• Void Rangers: The branch that guards the void breeches, deals with void kaiju, and and collects exotic materials. Specializes in heavy duty mecha, transforming tank mecha with big canons, and mecha that combine into a bigger mecha. Their insignia is a stylized black shuriken.

• Field Rangers: The branch in charge of keeping the lands between settlements and farms safe, as well as keeping the forests and fields healthy and keeping an eye on animal migratory paths, which include the local kaiju. Also in charge of preventing and controlling forest fires, flood response, and search and rescue of lost sisters. Their branch insignia is a red tyrannosaurus head.

• Metro Rangers: the urban branch of the military, in charge of keeping traffic clear, assisting civilian sisters, responding to supervillainous sisters like The Songstress and her bad karaoke singing in the middle of the night, coordinating during emergencies like storms, acting as firefighters and first responders, and being on the lookout for sisters for nanobots, mind-controlling brain slugs, nanobots, shapeshifted demons, nanobots, shapeshifted kitsune, nanobots, shapeshifted fae folk, nanobots, little girl vampires, nanobots, robot impersonators, nanobots, spiritual possession, nanobots, disguised ninja, nanobots, incarnated eldritch abominations, and nanobots. Their branch insignia is 555 inside a shield.

• Star Rangers: the youngest of the branches at only 300 or so years old, they are the most heavily armed branch of the space service. Their purview is patrolling the star system, marking asteroids and comets so they don't surprise people, escorting ships on resource extraction missions, garrisoning the other planets of the system, dealing with first contact, and being the first response to alien invasion. Their insignia is the constellation libra... despite that constellation not being visible from Surcease.

Kaedekin ranks

Enlisted

• Civie: Kaedekin reserves and those below 13 yo,

• Rookie: newly enlisted Kaedekin 13yo and above. Rank insignia is a black and white checkered armband

• Grunt:  Kaedekin who have passed rookie training. Rank insignia is a black collar button and a black armband

• Sarge: a non-comissioned officer, usually in charge of a squad of Grunts. Rank insignia is a black collar button with a red border and a black armband with a red border

Officers

• Knight: Rank insignia is a red collar button and a red armband

• Paladin: Rank insignia is a red collar button with a black border and a red armband with a black border

• Sorceress: Rank insignia is a red collar button with a white border and a red armband with a white border

• Knight Captain: Rank insignia is a red collar button with a silver border and a red armband with a silver border

• Paladin Captain : Rank insignia is a red collar button with a gold border and a red armband with a gold border

• Sorceress Captain : Rank insignia is a red collar button with a green border and a red armband with a green border

The Kaedekin military has not yet expanded enough to require a rank above 'Sorceress Captain'. However, the theoretical ranks exist but have not yet been activated. They are:

• Knight Princess: Rank insignia is a pink collar button with a silver border and a pink armband with a silver border

• Paladin Princess: Rank insignia is a pink collar button with a gold border and a pink armband with a gold border

• Sorceress Princess: Rank insignia is a pink collar button with a green border and a pink armband with a green border
