Ooh, loyalty, okay, that's a good one. Given the current theme, I'm sure that was intentional, having Zoro walk out with Luffy. It serves as a contrast to Usopp who is fighting with a friend, as far as he's concerned, not disobeying his captain. That's more like what Zoro sees. But again, Luffy hasn't really been very Captain like yet. Zoro is the only one who consistently treats him like one. Now it's time to prove that he was worth following.

2025-05-08 20:31:00 +0000 UTCOkay, got that off my chest… The ship was a gift from Kaya's employee, not Kaya, that's not all that strong a connection. Usopp's projection, on the other hand, that's big. He's felt inadequate from the beginning, not understanding why these amazing people would want him around. His own father didn't want him, the people in his hometown didn't want him, why would they be any different? Besides, what's his role? He's not a primary melee fighter, that's never been his strength. He can't navigate, he's not a doctor, he can probably cook okay but the have a cook. As a warrior, he's a sniper. That's not something you do up close, that is something you do from a distance as support. There haven't been many opportunities for him to use those skills. What else does he do? He invented a weapon that allowed Nami to defeat Miss Doublefinger in Alabasta. He cobbled together diving suits with breathing tubes so that Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy could explore a wreck. He's kept Merry afloat. He's the engineer. If you need something created for a specific function, but you don't necessarily have the parts, he's the one you go to. He'll figure something out. And it'll work. He doesn't realize how important that role is.

2025-05-08 20:05:04 +0000 UTCYes, we know, everyone hates Usopp and wishes he just did the honorable thing and commit seppuku so they no longer had to endure his presence. The people who actively hate Usopp can't be bothered to extend grace or step back for a moment to consider where he's coming from. They've never forgiven him. Can't ever have a moment of weakness or humanity, have to be perfect all the time to be acceptable.
