FMG Life Sim 2025 Polishing Update Beta 1 Sent Out

Hello everyone, Beta 1 of the Polishing Update has been sent out to current $10+ patrons. If you processed a $10+ pledge in the past month and did not receive a message, send me a DM here on Patreon.

FMG Life Sim 2025 Polishing Update Beta 1 Notes:

- Changed the update year to 2025 to avoid any confusion, and another polishing update isn't planned for this year.

- Upgraded the game to the newest version of Twine Sugarcube. This is supposed to improve the save feature and implements an autosave. Old save files may be incompatible. This process was lengthier than anticipated because parts of the old code were incompatible with the newer version for various reasons, but this should help future proof the game and add some new potential tools for future updates.

- Implemented the ability to set a custom wakeup time for what was previously the "Sleep Until 7 AM" option. By default the wakeup time is still 7 AM, but you can change this with Change Wakeup Time menu in the sleep menu.

- Reimplemented and revamped Job Automation. This can be set in the Both Go to Work and individual work menus. Job Automation occurs after sleeping if the job is open upon waking up.

- The Test / Debug Room has been renovated a bit:

 - Upon opening the room, there's now an option to go to the test room passage itself, closing the dialogue box. This will prevent the screen from jumping up to the top after modifying something. Using this will end up entering the last passage you were in again when you exit. (Kept the dialog box because there are times where one may want to modify things without triggering current passage's contents again).

 - Replaced all of the text boxes with numberboxes and removed the integer check codes (since the numberbox already enforces using a number). Only a small change on the user side, but the boxes do have +/- arrows built in for convenience.

 - Added the new skills

 - Added the new perks/curses

 - Removed old stats/skills/etc that have been removed

 - Added ability to change player/GF atrophy points (must have atrophy enabled in the Options menu first)

 - Added ability to change number of days remaining until the Bad Ending (must have Bad Ending enabled from the start/character creation screen).

 - Fixed a bug potentially preventing focusing crystals from being added to the inventory through the test room. Added a confirmation message when a focusing crystal is added.

 - Fixed a bug potentially preventing focusing potion from being added to the inventory through the test room. Added a confirmation message when a potion is added.

 - Fixed a bug potentially preventing other inventory items (currently diving suit and powercore) from being added to the inventory through the test room. Added a confirmation message when one is added.

- Inventory has been touched up lightly:

 - There's now a special message if your inventory is empty with a little hint towards ways to acquire items.

 - Apartment Upgrades list was removed for adding unhelpful clutter.

 - Medals and Blueprints now only appear if you own at least one.

 - Added 'Yourself' after the 'Drink Potion' links to fully clarify it's the player drinking the potion.

- Added the ability to have the characters rest together until their stamina is recovered for both.

- If the relax/rest together activity is selected for 16+ times (8+ hours) the characters will go to sleep instead (since this is currently always more beneficial).

- The Player Character may now use supplements to boost his strength and endurance experience gains from exercise.

- The Powercore (found from diving) can now be used to indefinitely power the Gravity Chamber and The Stretcher.

 - It now takes 45+ strength to reach the bottom of the ocean in the diving activity to find the powercore.

- Mega Batteries can now be used at the recycler (including Mega Batteries created from the Kinetic Charger).

- Added the new skill potentials (from alpha 4) to the Stats screen for reference.

 - Yellow and Violet focusing crystals now appear in the inventory count.

- Added titles to the dialog windows in the sidebar and living room along with various other small changes.

If asked, I will refund you the moment there are account funds to do so (unless it can go negative, then would do so immediately if asked). Again, I apologize for your disappointment. Unfortunately I cannot come close to doing all of the things listed in this change log within a single weekend. The collective polishing update has many things that have been long requested. Open to suggestions for extra additions to the Beta 2 (there's actually a couple in store already). Understandable that it's time to exit, and wish you well.

Meh. I think it's time I pass the game off. It was cool back in the day but has run out of steam. The whole system was pretty cool, but now it just feels outdated and, to be completely honest, unimaginative. I mean, there is very little unique thought going into the content being released. I'm not even expecting anything crazy, but the job update, for example, was so utterly bland and void of material, yet you just wrapped it up and moved on to a polishing update that barely did anything outside of reorganising the interface which is arguably worse than it used to be. You're really poking at a dead dog with this one. Edit: I can't even get refunded for this. It feels like you wait till the end of the month and just do everything in one weekend. It's so void of material.

The final beta iteration is when I do a full playthrough of the game to fix typos and small errors encountered. Anything found by testers before that point is helpful. Yes, the alphas and betas are full of bugs. This is not the finished version of the update. Might change the version iterations so Beta 1 is after the full playthrough to prevent any confusion. Sorry for your disappointment, and completely understand if you prefer waiting for the final releases.

Well, this was a waste of time and a massive disappointment. A polishing update that still has an abysmal amount of typos. Crazy. Edit: And glitches/errors.
