When drawing the cover, you might be a little lost whether you want to make a cool picture, or to take a look at the drama with a knee in the private room for maintenance (named cubicle in the work) (Laughs) I wanted to draw just rough.

ヒューゴー賞、ネビュラ賞、ローカス賞の三賞受賞のSF小説『マーダーボット・ダイアリー』（上・下）のカバーを描かせていただきました。
過去に行動を操られて大量殺人をしてしまった人型警備ユニットが、自身をハッキングして自由意志を獲得し、いろいろな事件に巻き込まれながら旅する物語です。
自信を『弊機』と一人称で表す主人公の警備ユニットは機械でありながら微妙に人間くさくて、コミュ障で動揺すると海外ドラマを観て現実逃避したり、かと思えば無謀な取引きに向かう人間を見捨てられなくてトラブルに巻き込まれたり、最初は偏屈で無機質に思えた主人公に対して、読み進めるにつれて不思議な人間味を（機械なのですが）感じて、SFとしてももちろん面白いのですが、主人公の一人語りに不思議な面白味があって、だんだんそれをずっと聞いていたいのような気持ちになります。
カバーを描くときに、かっこいい絵にするか、メンテナンスのための個室（作中ではキュービクルという名称です）の中で膝を抱えてしかめ面でドラマを観ている弊機、とかにしようかとちょっと迷いました（笑）。ラフだけでも描いてみたかったなあ。
