The mission she had accepted was to cross the Moon Dark Forest and eliminate the leader of the Sphinx tribe, who was currently stationed at the edge of the forest. It was said that the leader was as strong as a human adamantium-class adventurer, known as the "Broken Steel Lion King."

This was a mission of assassination.

She planned to proceed directly tonight.

That night, on the Lion's Tooth Highlands, far beyond the Maple Moon Territory and across the vast Dark Moon Forest, unimaginable events were unfolding.

The crack of a black whip echoed through the air, striking against strong muscles and leaving red welts. A tuft of short brown hair fell to the ground as the creature under the whip let out a mournful cry.

It sounded like a wail, but there was something else mixed in—something that made one question the sanity of the person wielding the whip.

The succubus, clad in scant clothing and wielding the whip, smiled as she pressed her high-heeled foot against the head of the kneeling sphinx.

"The task given by Lady Lilith is almost too simple." She said. The girl was a succubus under Lilith's command. She had once been a platinum-level adventurer, and after her transformation, her strength far surpassed that of ordinary succubus.

"A gentleman can be killed but not humiliated! You fiend!" Roared an old lion, much stronger than the other sphinxes, his muscles bulging like small hills.

He was chained to a massive stone pillar, his body covered in red welts from the whip.

The whip of a succubus could break the will of its victim, turning them into a slave. However, those with strong mental fortitude could resist its effects.

"How could I possibly kill you?" The succubus girl laughed as she approached the sphinx, "Lord Broken Steel Lion, you are an important asset to Lady Lilith."

As she spoke, she forced a purple crystal into the sphinx's mouth.

"What is this? Aaaahh..."

"It's done. I hope Lady Lilith will be satisfied," the succubus said.

But then, her expression changed.

A vast energy gathered in the air, and a crimson light erupted in the distance, transforming into a dazzling sun.

It was like a miniature sun appearing at the boundary between the sky and the earth. The dense magical energy almost solidified into liquid, forming heat waves that surged in all directions.

It felt as though a gust of scorching wind was blowing directly onto her face, bringing an almost suffocating dryness and burning sensation. Without hesitation, the succubus girl raised her hand.

"Wall That Rejects Energy!"

A bright yellow barrier appeared in front of her, blocking the oncoming heat waves.

However, while the oppressive heat vanished, it was replaced by a chilling sense of unease and impending doom.

Something was wrong as from the moment the crimson light appeared to the realization of danger, less than a second had passed. She knew instinctively—

It couldn't be resisted. The [Wall That Rejects Energy] she had cast wouldn't hold. No matter how many defenses she erected, it wouldn't be enough.

She had to escape, or she would die. This thought made her instinctively step back.

But it was too late. Like a raging wave rising from a sea of red flames, the fire surged toward her with irresistible force.

Escape was impossible. She couldn't do it. She would die.

The crimson flames met the fluorescent yellow barrier, and in an instant, like a snowflake thrown into a furnace, the energy wall melted away.

The girl faced the inferno, time seemed to stretch in that moment. The intense heat caused the ends of her hair to catch fire, and the distorted hot air made it impossible to breathe.

She felt the burning pain across her skin, and in contrast to the searing heat, a cold despair rose from the depths of her heart.

She closed her eyes and let the flames consume her.

"[Sanctuary of Energy]!"

A blue hemispherical shield enveloped her, and a slender hand rested on her shoulder.

"Lilith... my lady..."

She wasn't afraid of death, nor did she intend to cry, but at that moment, tears streamed uncontrollably from her eyes.

She said nothing, and her expression was completely different from before. Lilith's bright eyes burned with a murderous intent that could cut through steel.

"[Portal]."

Lilith activated the spell and sent the succubus girl away.

Then, she dispelled the protective magic and stood exposed to the scorching magical energy, her expression calm and unbothered.
