MCU- CH-309. Sitting on the chair
Added 2025-02-10 05:58:03 +0000 UTCLuke sat on the throne specially prepared for him by Zod, gazing at Metron, who was pulled over by him with a look of disbelief.
"That... I can explain!"
Their eyes locked, and the usually arrogant God of Knowledge began to stutter, trying to explain his actions.
But Luke didn't give him a chance, using his overwhelming strength to yank Metron off the Mobius Chair.
"No, don't!"
The moment his body separated from the chair, Metron immediately lost his omniscient power, filling him with sheer panic.
If he lost the Mobius Chair, everything he had worked for would slip away.
"It's over, everything is over!"
This was the only thought racing through Metron's mind.
At the same time, the Mobius Chair, now abandoned by its owner, instinctively tried to flee. However, the surrounding space was completely under Luke's control, and the chair didn't stand a chance.
"Is this the God of Knowledge? A supercomputer that can search the endless knowledge of the entire multiverse? I think I'll give it a try!"
Luke's words weren't directed at Metron but at the Mobius Chair.
"No, give me back the Mobius Chair!"
Metron, having lost his chair, saw Luke attempting to sit on it and immediately stood up, trying to stop him.
"Hmph! Don't be so rude to His Majesty, the Lord God!"
Unfortunately, before Metron could act further, Zod had already moved to stand in front of him, his face expressionless.
"Get out of my way. That belongs to me. I am the God of Knowledge, and only I can sit on it!"
Metron roared in fury and was about to attack.
However, Zod had undergone a transformation. With his enhanced genes, he could easily take on gods.
Bang!
Zod calmly retracted his fist and looked at Metron, who had been sent flying into the wall. Disdain filled his eyes.
It was almost as if he were silently mocking Metron, 'This is the so-called God of Knowledge?'
Meanwhile, Luke had already settled into the Mobius Chair.
Suddenly, a brilliant light emanated from the chair, and a strange force surged into Luke's body. In that moment, Luke had the illusion that he could know everything, should he choose to.
However, Luke, who had some knowledge of the Mobius Chair, knew better than to believe that it could grant true omniscience. If that were the case, omniscience would lose all its meaning.
Luke's thoughts then drifted to a question Batman had asked when he sat on this chair in a side story.
"Tell me, what is the Joker's real name?"
When Batman replaced Metron as the new God of Knowledge, he asked two questions to verify whether the Mobius Chair was truly all-knowing.
The first question was about the identity of his parents' murderer, and the chair provided an immediate answer.
For the second question, Batman asked about the Joker's true identity. Unfortunately, the chair responded, "I can't tell you the real name of the clown, because there are three clowns."
Luke then casually thought of a few special names, and that small action nearly sent the Mobius Chair into a frenzy.
Those names were The Main Observer, Taixu, God, and The Giant Ferocious Beast. Beings of such unimaginable power would cause even the Mobius Chair to tremble in fear.
At that moment, lightning crackled and flashed on the chair, as if there had been a short circuit inside.
Seeing this, Metron was on the brink of tears.
It was as if his precious little treasure had been taken away by a mischievous child and ruined beyond recognition.
This was the depth of Metron's heartache and frustration, but there was nothing he could do.
"It seems that the legendary God of Knowledge is no more than this. However, the source in this chair is quite valuable. It would be a waste to leave it locked away like this!"
Luke said, as he reached for the Mobius Chair and pulled out a strange glowing source.
The source was born from the endless cycle of destruction and rebirth of the universe, with the power to turn decay into magic.
Such a source was invaluable and often fought over by the gods, particularly the old gods, who were highly reliant on it. Their constant battles to control the source led to the multiverse being torn apart.
Eventually, the new gods, led by Yuga Khan, rose to power and ended the reign of the old gods, as the new gods were not as dependent on the source.
Still, the source was an object of fierce competition.
With enough source, one could condense a godhead and ascend as a new god, or even absorb the isotopes of oneself across the multiverse and become the singular, unique god.
When Luke saw the source within the Mobius Chair, he naturally began to formulate plans. While he couldn't use the source himself, he could give it to his subordinates.
After all, he had already confronted Rao, and his title as the Lord God of Krypton was public knowledge. It was only a matter of time before he needed gods under his command.
Moreover, having power comparable to that of a god was not enough. One needed to be recognized as a true god by the multiverse.
"No, you'll ruin it."
Metron was beside himself with despair. He had never imagined that Luke would completely disregard the endless knowledge offered by the Mobius Chair and attempt to draw out its source.
If the Mobius Chair lost its source, it would be reduced to a hollow shell, as useless as a computer without a motherboard.
"Destroying it is impossible. I've merely extracted a part of its power. Its functions are only slightly diminished."
Although Luke felt the Mobius Chair's power was of little use to him, he wasn't willing to destroy it outright.
"Since you think nothing of the Mobius Chair, could you at least return it to me?"
Metron asked, his tone tinged with a hint of hope, though his frustration was evident.
"I'll give it back to you. Forget it. I'm already showing mercy by sparing your life!"
Luke lay back in the Mobius Chair, a relaxed smile on his face.
"But it's not impossible for you to get the chair back. I'll return it to you when I'm done with it!"
Metron was seething with anger, his face turning a deep shade of green. But when he saw Zod watching him intently, he wilted once again.
His eyes burned with a mix of resentment and longing as they remained fixed on the chair where Luke sat, his heart torn between frustration and helpless desire.
