OVERLORD- CH-64. Devil's Arm

So, who is stronger—the boy sitting next to him, or the Dragon King? Or could it be that the boy is the Dragon King himself?

[Life Observation] would not lie. After countless tentative attempts, Angelina had fully accepted the reality of her situation.

At this moment, she no longer felt fear.

"Lina." Aya called softly, her voice breaking the silence.

"What's wrong?" Angelina wondered as Aya's hand reached out and gently took hold of hers.

"Huh?" Before she could react, Aya had already placed a golden bell into her palm.

"What is this?" Angelina's face flushed slightly, her mind immediately jumping to other possible associations like a gift, or even a token of love.

Then, as if on cue, the bell began to tinkle in her palm, producing a sharp, irritating sound.

"This is what I mentioned earlier—a magical tool that can detect good and evil attributes. It's responding to 'extreme evil' right now," Aya explained.

"What?!" Angelina's eyes widened in shock.

"So, I've found you. You over there, come out." Aya stood up, protecting Angelina as she gazed in one direction.

From the flowers ten meters away, the air shimmered with distortion, and a thin man materialized.

His black robe fluttered in the breeze, and a hood obscured his face. However, a deep, chaotic purple light emanated from his eyes. The figure silently observed Aya and Angelina, as though calculating his next move.

"No," Aya frowned in response.

According to the expected situation, the person who appeared should have been a low-level demon. However, the result of [Race Detection] told her that this was, unmistakably, a human. No, not just any human—it was a human with some demonic traits.

This was an abnormal situation.

There was a sound of rushing air, and the man flung two daggers toward Aya's eyes.

Without flinching, without even closing her eyes, Aya remained perfectly still. The daggers halted fifty centimeters from her face, clattering harmlessly to the ground.

It was clear that the opponent's strength would not exceed level sixty, given that he was unable to break through [High-level Physical Invalidation] or [Throwing Items Invalidation].

Aya made a quick assessment and stretched her shoulders and wrists, preparing to deal with the man.

No matter what, she would catch him first.

At that moment, far off in the outer city area, a column of fire shot up into the sky. The man before them tilted his head upwards, and the firelight illuminated his face—revealing a horrifying sight: a pale white skull mask sewn onto his face.

According to his crude, desperate plan, he had infiltrated the Duke of Maple Moon's mansion, aiming to kidnap the eldest daughter of the Colswaite family.

The motivation? Money. His previous plan had failed, costing him a large sum in advance payments. The employer, furious and humiliated by the failure, had doubled the original bounty as an act of retaliation. This amount of money was enough to drive him to take such a risk.

The last person hired for this task, 'Phantom' Miles from the 'Black Snake' thieves group, had died in the failed attempt. The man knew Miles well—he was a pervert with a twisted attitude toward women, but undeniably strong, with the fighting prowess of a bronze-level adventurer.

If someone of Miles' strength had failed, then the task should have been impossible. It seemed likely that the other party had employed an adamantium-level adventurer to act as a protector.

But now, this man had newfound confidence. With the mask and a devilish arm at his disposal, he believed that even an adamantium-level adventurer would be no match for him.

To this day, he couldn't quite fathom what had happened. A sudden earthquake, followed by horrific screams outside his cave, had forced him to leave the shelter. When he emerged, he found a pile of mangled corpses in front of him.

Though he had been a thief for many years, witnessing such a gruesome scene—a pile of corpses with cuts so smooth they looked almost unnatural—nearly made him vomit. But then, something white and shining among the dismembered bodies caught his eye.

Instinctively, his thief's intuition told him it might be a treasure. Without hesitation, he reached out to grab it. But as soon as he touched the object, something attached itself to his hand, and he lost consciousness.

When he awoke, he found himself transformed—half-human, half-ghost. Strangely, he felt no fear or regret about his transformation; instead, he reveled in the newfound power coursing through his veins, power that could fulfill all his desires.

He wanted money. He wanted the cursed daughter of the Colswit family. He wanted to destroy the "Crystal Tears" that had been chasing him. He wanted to kill.

And now, just when he was on the verge of his goal, someone dared to stand in his way.

"Kid, hand over the woman behind you, and I might spare your life." The man sneered, tilting his head, his skinny arm stretching out in front of him. His fingers twisted unnaturally, creating a sickly, distorted appearance.

"If you want her, just try to take me down. Don't you think it's a waste of time to talk so much?" Aya smirked derisively, then silently cast two defensive spells—[Wall of God] and [Avoid Arrow]—shielding Angelina behind her. Using the [Reality Distortion] ability attached to her ring, Aya erased any traces of the magic's casting aura.

Then, without hesitation, she launched [Space Blockade] and [No-Fly Zone] to prevent the man from escaping.

"Are you a steel-level adventurer?" The man's voice betrayed no fear, even as he shook his head. It seemed he had no intention of striking immediately.

"Whether I am or not is none of your business. Could it be that you are?" Aya countered calmly.

"I'm not an adventurer. Adventurers are my prey." The man grinned cruelly, as if savoring the coming confrontation.

"Although I don't know what tricks you used to stop my throwing knives, even if you are an adamantium-level adventurer, you will never be able to defeat me," The man boasted. He tilted his neck, his skull mask almost twisting completely to the side.

The man waited for a response, but Aya remained silent, her eyes unreadable.

"My name is..." He hesitated, his voice faltering as he tried to remember.

"My name is... My name is... I... is..." His words began to unravel, and he clutched his head in confusion, breathing heavily.

"Angelina," Aya sighed softly.

"Huh?"

"I think this guy is a fool."

"I will kill you! Bastard!" The man howled, his face twisting with rage. With a flash of red in his eyes, he charged at Aya.

He wielded a long sword in his left hand, his right arm hidden beneath his cloak. Before he could react, he leaped into the air, swinging his sword down in a powerful overhead strike.

'Success!' He thought, secretly gleeful. With his current strength, this strike should be enough to cleave anyone in half.

Aya stood unarmed, seemingly defenseless. The situation looked precarious, yet she felt no fear.

Even if she let the sword strike her directly, the opponent's level was far too low to break through her defenses. But that would be embarrassing, so instead, Aya simply raised her hand.

She was about to catch the sword when she changed her mind, deciding it would be far more effective to hit the man directly in the face.

With a swift movement, she sent the man flying across the garden, his body crashing into a rockery with a tremendous impact. The rocks shattered as he tumbled to the ground.

"Sorry, we'll discuss compensation later," Aya called out as she walked towards the pile of rubble.

From the dust, a figure shakily rose to his feet.

This time, her strength was controlled perfectly.

But just as she thought the situation was under control, another dagger flew from the dust, heading straight for her face.
