MCU- CH-187. Steve got new powers

Seeing Captain America's sudden transformation, Nick Fury immediately put all agents on high alert.

"Captain!" Fury shouted, wanting to ensure that Captain America was still himself and not controlled by some unknown force.

Captain America didn't respond at first. At that moment, several commandments appeared in his mind:

1. Always maintain your free will, but unconditionally obey the orders of the God of Dispelia.

2. Respect and cooperate with other Corps members.

3. Respect life, but do not oppose the use of force.

4. Safeguard the honor of the Legion and the glory of Dispelia.

Luke had deleted most of the original ten commandments of the Green Lantern Corps since his aims differed from those of the so-called "Guardians of the Universe." To Luke, willpower was simply another form of power. Anyone who was resolute in their ideals—good or evil—could wield it. As long as Luke ultimately benefitted, that was enough for him. If someone used this power for evil ambitions, he couldn't care less.

Captain America frowned upon seeing the first commandment. He agreed with maintaining free will but didn't like the idea of unconditionally obeying the orders of the God of Dispelia.

Fury noticed Captain's unease and signaled the agents. Instantly, they pointed tranquilizer guns at Captain America, who was enveloped in green energy. They were ready to fire if Fury gave the order.

Captain America observed their actions calmly, as he and Fury had discussed these precautions beforehand.

"I'm fine!" He assured them in his familiar tone, causing Fury to relax. Captain America was an iconic figure, central to Fury's vision.

"Captain, how do you feel now? Any changes?" Fury asked.

"I feel great. I may have gained some new powers." Captain America replied. Although he had reservations about the rules, he sensed that the ring might be of use. As he spoke, the ring flashed, and his familiar shield appeared—but now in green.

Captain America floated up, testing his newfound abilities.

"Record all surrounding energy fluctuations and scan the shield composition." Fury ordered the scientific team. Captain America, after savoring the experience of flight, landed, knowing there were more pressing matters.

Without prompting, he explained, "This ring allows me to wield something called the power of will. Anything I imagine can be materialized through it. Maybe we should test it somewhere isolated, like an uninhabited desert."

Fury nodded, understanding. He immediately instructed his agents to make arrangements.

"Captain, do you trust this power? Have you noticed any hidden dangers?" Fury asked, concerned.

Captain America shared the iron rules he'd learned. At the mention of the God of Dispelia, Fury's face turned thoughtful.

"In our fight against mutants, there was once an ancient mutant named Apocalypse who called himself a god. He led a group of mutants and vanished. Could there be a connection?"

"Maybe." Captain America said, "After this experiment, we should consult another mutant leader to understand more."

Captain America felt slightly lost with all the talk of mutants and gods but trusted that Fury knew something useful. Now, he just wanted to integrate into this modern society.

As Fury and Coulson walked away, Coulson looked slightly puzzled.

"Coulson, something on your mind?" Fury asked.

"Sir, have you read DC comics? The Captain's new powers look just like those of a character called Green Lantern!" Coulson replied.

Fury blinked, "Get me that comic."

"Yes, sir!"

With that in mind, they focused on the experiment first. Soon, a transport plane landed in a deserted area in New Mexico, where a temporary tent with various experimental equipment had been set up.

Captain America disembarked and went straight to the designated testing area.

"Captain, feel free to demonstrate." Fury said, stepping back.

With a green glow, the ring projected an energy field around Captain America, forming a suit of battle armor. Relying on his battlefield experiences, he visualized all the weapons he'd seen, ready to unleash his newfound abilities.

Even so, the power—comparable to, if not stronger than, an actual weapon—shocked the researchers observing the test. The green energy could be used not only for direct attacks but also for healing and creating protective shields. At this moment, Captain America had become a multifunctional super soldier, combining offense, defense, healing, and support abilities.

Although Luke's ring was a simplified version compared to the original Green Lantern Ring, it had its unique advantages. These rings served as intermediaries between each user and the energy of willpower, but lacked the supercomputer functions of the original. Unlike the original Green Lantern, Luke didn't have the Book of Oa for guidance or connection.

Whether Luke would improve these rings in the future depended entirely on his whims. Despite any limitations, the advantages of Luke's rings were significant. Since they weren't bound by the restrictions imposed by the Guardians, the rings required no recharging. In other words, as long as the user's will could sustain them, they wouldn't need to worry about running out of power.

"Captain, if I'm not mistaken, the ring's abilities should be tied to your imagination." Nick Fury deduced, observing the possibilities of the Green Lantern Ring.

"Looks like I'll need to get creative." Captain America agreed, "For now, this is what I can envision. But I might be able to summon other things, like... a flying pet dog."

With a grin, he activated the ring. A green beam of energy shot out, forming the shape of a dog. The dog barked at Fury before sprouting wings and taking flight, flapping its wings playfully in the air.
