MCU- CH-184. The Origin of the Multiverse
Added 2024-10-25 04:24:09 +0000 UTCSo Luke continued, "I not only know of your existence but also your origin—the origin of the multiverse."
This sentence directly shattered Eternity's composure!
If Luke's previous words had only slightly affected Eternity's mask-like expression, this revelation completely broke his facade. Although Eternity was aware that the multiverse was constantly shifting and that there had been six cosmic eras before him, he never knew the true reason behind the multiverse's creation. Even as a creator god, the origin eluded him.
Just as Eternity began to look at Luke more intently, eager for him to continue speaking, Luke fell silent!
It was like being on the verge of sealing a deal, only for the other party to back out at the last moment. Eternity felt the frustration of expectation being dangled just out of reach.
Luke, of course, noticed all of Eternity's subtle changes.
"I thought this great god was truly without desires!" Luke mused to himself, "But since you want to know so badly, don't blame me for making you work for it. After all, you took the Planet Devourer—my rightful prize—without so much as a word. If I don't get some compensation, then you'll have to deal with the frustration of being left in suspense!"
"Why don't you continue?" Eternity asked, a rare note of urgency in his voice.
"Before I get to that." Luke said, "let's address something else. The Devourer of Planets invaded my territory, and I defeated him. I considered him my trophy. But you took him away without even a warning. Does that seem fair to you?"
Although Luke harboured some caution towards Eternity, he wasn't going to back down. If they were to clash, the outcome wasn't certain, and Luke had no intention of being the one at a disadvantage.
Luke had always thrived on gaining the upper hand. There was no reason for him to lose out when dealing with someone like Eternity.
In the billions of years of this cosmic era, no living being had ever dared to say such words in the presence of Eternity. This was also due to the fact that he rarely appeared before the inhabitants of the universe. Even the number of times his clones had appeared could be counted on one hand.
It could be said that this was the first time Eternity had encountered such a situation, so even the God of Creation was momentarily stunned. However, Eternity was still Eternity, with a mind as vast as the multiverse.
So, instead of being angered by Luke's bold claim, Eternity responded calmly, "It's true that I wanted to speak with you directly, and Galactus' existence is crucial to maintaining the balance of the universe. What sort of compensation do you seek?"
Neither Luke nor Eternity mentioned the fact that the Planet Devourer wielded the artifact known as the Ultimate Nullifier. It was an unspoken agreement between them.
"Planet Devourer is a great creator god, famous throughout the multiverse and a brother to you. I'm sure you will offer a suitable price for taking him." Luke said, casually tossing the issue back to Eternity.
There were two reasons for this. First, Luke didn't know what valuable items Eternity had in his possession. After all, Eternity rarely showed himself, and even in battle, he was known for not using any famed artifacts. Second, the Planet Devourer was already in Eternity's hands, so whatever Luke could gain from this exchange would be pure profit.
Seeing Luke's move, Eternity was momentarily troubled. However, after a brief pause, Eternity seemed to have thought of something and reached out into the pure white void before him. A miniature pocket universe appeared in his hand.
"This was left over from when I created the servants. It contains their core code."
The servants Eternity referred to were the gods who brought the first light to the multiverse and helped maintain cosmic order. Each generation of multiversal entities creates its own group of Celestial Beings. In the new multiverse, the Celestials span space and dimensions, create intelligent life on various planets, and guide the evolution of life. This was the small push that allowed the multiverse to continuously evolve and improve.
It was undeniable that the rise of the Celestials helped the nascent universe evolve rapidly. While the gods themselves might view the Celestials as eternal creations, honored by the gods, to Eternity, they were mere tools born from fleeting thoughts.
Now, Eternity handed over the most core and secret aspects of the Celestial Beings to Luke. This was significant, as these codes were considered taboo by the Celestials, and anyone who tampered with them would be hunted down relentlessly.
Luke accepted Eternity's compensation without hesitation.
"Now, will you tell me what you know about the origin of the multiverse?" Eternity asked, knowing that Luke was satisfied with the compensation.
"If you want to listen, I'll tell you. Whether you believe it or not is up to you." Luke said, casually stowing the pocket universe away.
"As a cosmic entity, I assume you know more about the destruction and rebirth of the universe than I do."
Eternity nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
"If we measure by cosmic eras, we are now in a multiverse that has undergone its seventh rebirth."
"The concept of cosmic eras only began after the formation of the multiverse. Before the first era, there was only a single universe, and that universe also had a cosmic entity like you."
"And his name was—The First Sky."
Hearing this name, Eternity was visibly shaken. He felt an inexplicable connection to it.
"In the original single universe, The First Sky was the only existence. The endless loneliness led Him to create other beings and servants. Thus, the servants of the gods were born."
"Driven by their fanatical worship of the First Sky, the servants begged for permission to create life of their own."
At this point, Eternity seemed to understand something.
"After receiving the First Sky's permission, the servants of the gods began their journey as creators." Luke continued, "The original servants of the gods had no emotions. Their sole directive was to protect the First Sky. Their forms were completely black, which is why they were also called the Dark Gods."
Eternity nodded. This was indeed the highest code of conduct for the servants.
"But." Luke's tone suddenly shifted, "During the process of creating life, a group of Dark Gods gradually developed emotions while interacting with the beings they created. Their bodies began to fill with color."
"They wanted the lives they created to grow, evolve, and even die with them, but this was forbidden."
"Their actions were seen as a betrayal of the First Sky, and they were labeled as Colored Traitors, or the Celestials God Group. Conflict soon followed."
Eternity had already guessed what was coming next, but Luke continued.
"When conflicts reach a certain point, war becomes inevitable."
"The Dark God Group and the Celestials God Group waged a long and devastating war."
At this point, Eternity interrupted, "Didn't the First Sky try to stop the conflict?"
"Of course. He sided with the Dark God Group, but by then, He was no longer able to completely erase the existence of the Celestial Gods."
"However, with His support, the Dark Gods created the God Devourer Armor, a weapon designed to restrain the Celestial Gods. This nearly led to their annihilation."
"But before the final battle, divisions arose within the Dark God Group, sparking a civil war. This gave the Celestial Gods the perfect opportunity."
"In the end, the Celestial Gods used a trick to detonate the God Devourer Armor. The resulting explosion released terrifying energy that even affected the First Sky, shattering His body into countless fragments."
"After the battle, the First Sky was forced to retreat to a distant corner of existence with the remaining Dark Gods. The fragments that were stripped from Him underwent a long evolution and eventually formed the original multiverse."
Luke had told Eternity everything he knew about the multiverse's origin.
Eternity could no longer remain calm. He had never imagined that the multiverse was born from fragments of another entity. It was difficult for him to accept that his entire existence was derived from someone else's shattered remains.
"Oh, and I forgot to mention." Luke added, "The First Sky has been watching the birth and death of the multiverse. After all, no one likes being incomplete."
Luke's final words were a direct warning to Eternity: a terrifying being still lurked in the shadows, watching.
