X-MEN- CH-75. The High Priestess

In Raven's imagination, the spaceship soon arrived at its destination, the planet Sovereign. From a distance, this planet looked different from other round planets. It appeared to be a large planet with several smaller planets of various sizes attached to its two ends. The entire planet seemed golden from afar, even more brilliant than Thred.

As they got closer, a call came in from the ground. Martin answered, and a woman clad in gold appeared on the virtual panel in front of him. With a slightly arrogant expression, she said, "To thank you for saving our people, the High Priestess has decided to meet you in person." Then she sent a coordinate, adding, "The warship can dock here."

"Good," Martin replied, and the video call ended.

"Hmm..." Martin sighed. Her tone was rather unpleasant, but he silently reassured himself that this was just their nature and wasn't aimed directly at him. Martin was quite generous in such situations. As long as no one provoked him, he didn't make a big deal out of things.

Typically, warships weren't allowed to enter the territory of other forces, but the Sovereigns allowed Phoenix No. 1 to dock on their planet, which showed that they genuinely welcomed Martin.

After the black warship docked, it stood out against the golden surroundings. All around were Sovereign warships and spacecraft, luxurious in appearance, though Martin wasn't familiar with the details.

From the moment they disembarked, the two people rescued by Martin led him and Raven, demonstrating a clear sense of politeness. Additionally, a Sovereign official, who seemed to be a minister, came to greet Martin in person. She led a guard team, not for safety but for formal appearances.

Martin felt a bit like Elder Tang entering the Land of Women, except this place had men as well.

"Hello, I'm Pauline, and I've been ordered to escort you," the official said. Pauline wore a golden uniform, consisting of a long skirt and a tunic, while the others wore more combat-oriented attire. Her short golden hair reached her ears, and even her lips, eyelashes, and pupils were golden. Thankfully, her teeth were white.

"Hello, Pauline. I'm Martin, and this is my wife, Raven."

After exchanging polite introductions, Martin and Raven boarded the hovercraft provided to meet the High Priestess. As they admired the scenery through the transparent material, the hovercraft quickly arrived and landed outside a palace.

The palace sat atop a platform several dozen meters high, connected to the ground by an arched, golden staircase more than ten meters wide.

"Please follow me," Pauline said as she stepped out of the vehicle and led the way. The parking area was outside the main hall. The magnificent building had a very technological feel, enhanced by the golden theme, making it look refined and upscale.

Inside the palace, the space was vast, with a golden throne at the far end. Dozens of Sovereigns stood on either side, along with guards holding weapons. On the throne sat a woman in ornate clothing.

Martin noticed her face and, in his imagination, turned her golden skin into that of an Earthling. She was beautiful. Among all the people in the palace, her attire was the most luxurious. The golden color might seem gaudy to some, but as an Earthling, Martin appreciated the elegance.

However, Martin didn't like her hairstyle, which was wrapped tightly on her head, reminding him of a golden version of the "black-boiled egg" style on Earth. In comparison, Pauline's short hair and heroic appearance were much more pleasing to him.

As Martin and Raven walked, they observed the Sovereigns, who were equally observing them. Ayesha, the woman on the throne, scrutinized Martin. As the High Priestess of the Sovereigns, she had the ability to sense energy, and Martin gave off a strong presence that puzzled her.

In Sovereign tradition, this shouldn't have been possible. She guessed that Martin was an ordinary individual who reproduced through traditional methods, but she sensed something unusual about him. She wanted to analyze his genes but decided to wait until the matter at hand was resolved.

"This is our Sovereign's High Priestess, Ayesha," Pauline introduced, bowing slightly to Ayesha before standing aside at the foot of the stairs.

Martin and Raven nodded politely. "Respected High Priestess, I am Martin, and this is my partner, Raven. It's a pleasure to meet you," Martin said. He believed in mutual respect—if someone showed him respect, he would reciprocate.

The Sovereigns had shown kindness after he saved their people, so Martin didn't mind showing kindness in return, especially in front of their people.

Although Ayesha couldn't quite understand Martin's nature, she was confident in her abilities. If he were just an ordinary person, she would thank him and offer appropriate gifts. But Martin was not ordinary, and his strength demanded her careful attention. While the Sovereigns were proud, they were not foolish.

"Welcome to Sovereign Planet. Thank you very much for saving my people," Ayesha said as she stood. "The Sovereign people are grateful and always repay kindness. From now on, you are a friend of all Sovereign people." She smiled, adding, "You know, not everyone can be a friend of the Sovereigns, but you, as a strong man, have earned that qualification."

Martin and Raven exchanged glances, their lips curving into subtle smiles. It was good to be qualified, not unqualified.

Martin nodded. "Yes, I'm honored."

Ayesha's smile deepened. "We are also grateful that you've come to help us resolve a serious issue. Energy batteries are our main product, and many throughout the universe covet them. Yet, few dare to steal from the Sovereigns. However, a group of thieves from another dimension has appeared. We've tried to eliminate them, but they reappear periodically. While the food they steal is insignificant to us, the dignity of the Sovereign people does not allow any creature to ignore us..."
