As Luke devoured the nine celestial gods in the simplest and most brutal way, nine consecutive prompt sounds rang in the minds of all the remaining members of the celestial gods throughout the multiverse. In an instant, every god in the group froze, halting whatever they were doing.
The creatures who were suffering from the catastrophe thought they had gained a glimmer of hope, but before they could celebrate, the gods, who had just stopped, resumed their duties. No one could have imagined that these nine gods, who had terrorized the universe, would meet their end like this.
Even Thor and the last remaining god stood stunned at the sight!
From the moment the gods appeared, they never saw Luke as someone capable of challenging them. After all, from the data they had, Luke was only a single cosmic god, while each of them was as well. It was ten against one, an impossible situation for Luke—or so they thought. Failure had never crossed their minds.
Yet, reality gave them a harsh slap in the face. From the beginning, Luke had been toying with them, and it turned out they had been the ones played.
Even Hela, who had some idea of Luke's strength, had not fully grasped its scope. She had already braced herself for the possibility that she might truly meet her end this time, joining the great being in death.
But no one expected that these seemingly invincible gods would be so easily crushed by Luke, as if they were insignificant bugs.
"Luckily, he's my master now!" Hela thought with relief. At that moment, she truly felt fortunate. Submitting to Luke was perhaps the best decision she had ever made in her life. Her gaze flickered eagerly towards Luke, especially as she saw Thor taking a step that no previous Asgardian God-King had taken.
"Thor, if you can't handle this opponent, I'll take care of him myself!" Luke said, ignoring Hela and focusing on Thor, who stood frozen in disbelief. He opened his gaping, abyssal mouth and directed his scarlet eyes towards the last remaining god.
"Luke, no need! I can handle him!" Thor snapped back to reality. This was his opponent.
Thor had finally gained power greater than his father's from the World Tree and hadn't yet had the chance to fight. How could he pass up this opportunity? Now, transformed into a thunder giant, Thor turned and summoned a massive thunder axe, his fighting spirit locked onto the god.
"Wait, Asgardian, there's no need for us to fight!" The god exclaimed, hastily trying to stop Thor.
Was he kidding? Knowing they were no longer capable of resisting, continuing the fight would be pointless. Even though Thor had ascended to cosmic godhood, he was still newly risen. How could he compete with gods born with cosmic power? But even defeating Thor wouldn't change his fate. Luke's malicious gaze was fixated on him, and the fate of his fellow gods was all too clear.
He had no choice but to surrender.
For gods born holy, surrendering to the strong wasn't something shameful. It was only foolish to continue fighting when the outcome was obvious.
"Mighty unknown god, your power proves this universe now belongs to you!" He addressed Luke directly, understanding who held the real power, "Our mission was only to eliminate those who sought to steal the secrets of the gods. I can assure you, no member of the God Group will ever set foot in this universe again."
"Really? So, did you find the one attempting to steal the secrets of the gods?" Luke replied with a mocking tone, "If you fail your mission, won't your reputation suffer? Want to stay a little longer and keep looking?"
The god's expression twisted slightly under his armor. They were eternal beings, creations of the Supreme Being. For billions of years, they had witnessed the rise and fall of universes, creating and destroying countless worlds and lives. Apart from the time a young and reckless God of Darkness had severed the head of a celestial god, this was the greatest defeat they had suffered in eons.
Nine out of ten eternal gods wiped out in an instant. What reputation did they have left?
Even though he recognized Luke's mockery, the god had no way to retaliate. Unless they could summon their creator, the supreme being, Eternity, there was nothing they could do. But the god knew that Eternity, the physical embodiment of the multiverse, was already aware of everything happening here. If Eternity hadn't intervened by now, it meant their lives and deaths were of no concern to him.
At this moment, the greater cosmic gods simply watched as Luke destroyed their creations.
"Brother, that little dragon wiped out all those celestial gods. Do you really not care? Should I send a clone to bring back the last one?" Annihilation asked, turning to Eternity with some interest.
He was curious about Luke, this strange dragon-like being who had managed to eliminate so many gods.
"Do not interfere with the natural order of the multiverse." Eternity replied. From his perspective, everything that happened must be part of the universe's self-selection. As gods of creation, they only needed to ensure the multiverse didn't face an existential crisis. Other matters were of little concern.
Though he had created the celestial gods to guide the multiverse, they no longer served much purpose. Their fate, now, was of no importance to him. It may seem cold, but this was the attitude of a true god.
"What a shame." Annihilation sighed, "I would have liked to see that little dragon up close."
As the youngest among the gods of creation, Annihilation often played the role of a little brother. But in terms of power, he was the strongest of them all. Nevertheless, he was used to following his elder brother Eternity's words.
