X-MEN- CH-62. The view of the space
Added 2024-10-13 02:11:37 +0000 UTC"Okay... you, arrange rooms for the two guests." Yondu pointed at the mate and said.
"Yes, Captain." Mate agreed and looked at Martin, "Follow me."
Martin and Raven nodded and followed him away.
Yondu watched their figures disappear around the corner, and the smile on his face instantly vanished. He turned around and glared at the others, "You bunch of idiots! How dare you talk nonsense without knowing the identity or abilities of those two?"
He looked at his subordinates and scolded them before they could respond, "Why are you looking at me? If that fool hadn't said anything first, he wouldn't have done that, right?"
"Hmph... Well, those two are my guests. They'll be staying with us for a while. If you don't want to die, treat them with respect." Yondu continued, "Now that we have the goods, we'll find a place to repair them and then deliver them to our employers."
"Okay..."
Hearing that they were about to get paid, the crew shouted excitedly.
"Remember, be polite to them, especially that woman. Once we get the money, we'll have some fun." Yondu emphasized.
"Yes, Captain."
---
Martin and Raven were led into a room. From what they saw, it was clear this was one of the better rooms.
At least it was spacious, and compared to other areas, it was relatively clean. But still, for a place like this...
"Uh... please wait a moment. I'll find someone to clean it up." Mate said.
"No need, we'll handle it ourselves. Thank you." Martin replied.
The mate seemed quite pleased to be thanked by Martin and repeatedly said, "You're welcome."
"If there's anything you don't like, just throw it outside, and we'll take it away."
"Okay."
Mate left. Martin looked around the "tidy" room and tried to be optimistic, "We'll just make do. They're space pirates; no one here is going to care much about the environment. I get it. I'll clean up, and you can check out the view over there."
"Good."
There was a large platform in the room, somewhat like a balcony, with transparent walls allowing a view of the outside like a floor-to-ceiling window.
Martin cleaned the balcony first and let Raven sit there to enjoy the view. Then he started cleaning up the room, pushing all unwanted items outside.
However, Martin, who had no clue about the value of the items, discarded everything, considering it all trash. Even the few useful cabinets were covered in grime...
Raven glanced at the few remaining items in the room and turned to Martin, "It's so dirty..."
"Yeah, and we don't even have any bedding."
"Tsk... I should have thought of that earlier. Oh well, I'll clean the mattress, and we'll make do with that. I didn't want to use other people's bedding anyway."
"Me neither."
Martin approached the bed, placed his hands on the mattress, and carefully controlled his powers to the lowest level. He sensed every dust particle that didn't belong and decomposed them.
"Fortunately, the mattress is clean. It probably hasn't been used by anyone. Now it's as good as new." Martin said proudly, raising his hand and looking at Raven.
Raven looked at the now-pristine mattress, nodded in satisfaction, walked over to Martin, and wrapped her arms around him. She kissed him on the lips and said, "Honey, you're amazing."
"I'd prefer to hear that at a different time."
Raven smiled and asked, "Haven't I said that before?"
"You say it every time."
"You're already great..."
Martin leaned in and kissed her.
Suddenly, they broke apart when Martin turned toward the door. Another alien, who looked like he had never seen them before, stood nervously at the entrance, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you."
"It's fine. What's the matter?" Martin asked.
The alien exhaled in relief, "We're having a celebration party. Yondu asked me to invite you to join us."
Martin nodded, "Alright."
"Excuse me." Raven asked suddenly, "Can the walls here become transparent like the balcony?"
"Sure. Can I come in? I'll show you how to do it."
"Of course, my friend. There's no need to be afraid of me. I only act against those who are impolite." Martin reassured him.
The alien visibly relaxed, walked into the room, and quickly approached a panel on the wall. After pressing a few buttons, the entire wall became transparent.
"You can adjust it here, including the temperature and other settings, or use it to contact the outside."
Raven tried it out and thanked him with satisfaction.
---
As they left the room and headed toward the party, Martin asked, "Do you like the view outside?"
"Yes, it's beautiful, isn't it?"
Martin smiled, "There will be plenty of time to see that view. You'll get tired of it after a while. It's always dead silent, dark, with only stars far off in the distance."
"I like it for now."
"Alright, as long as you enjoy it, we can watch it every day."
"..."
They soon arrived at a large hall filled with tables and chairs. It was packed with people—at least a few hundred.
There were also personnel on duty scattered throughout the ship, which meant the total number must have been over a thousand.
Yes, even with advanced technology, a ship this large still needed a sizable crew.
"Here..." Yondu stood up and waved them over.
Wherever Martin and Raven walked, the crew lowered their heads, likely to avoid upsetting Martin.
Once they reached Yondu, he said, "Sit here."
"Haha, don't test me, Yondu. This is your ship, so of course, you sit at the main seat. We'll just sit beside it." Martin pulled Raven to sit next to Yondu.
Yondu sat down with a grin, picked up his glass, and shouted, "Let's celebrate our big haul!"
"Cheers!"
The crew erupted in cheers, raising their glasses in excitement.
Martin, following their custom, picked up the metal glass in front of him. It appeared very clean. After sensing no ill will from anyone, he realized it was indeed alcohol and drank it without hesitation. Raven followed his lead.
"Ugh..." Raven grimaced slightly.
"What's wrong?" Martin asked, concerned.
"The taste... it's a bit strange."
"Well, it's not from Earth, so that's to be expected."
Yondu finished his drink and turned to Martin, "So, how do you like my ship?"
"It's great, very big, and very advanced."
"Hahaha..."
Just like a driver who enjoys compliments about his car, Yondu beamed with pride at Martin's praise of his ship.
"Its combat and defense capabilities are top-notch too. Only with this ship can we survive in space. To me, nothing is more important. But it's a bit too large, so it's not convenient for certain places. After this job, I'll buy a couple of smaller ships, and then my team will be even stronger."
