X-MEN- CH-52. Victor is here
Added 2024-10-07 08:57:52 +0000 UTCThen Logan asked, "Does this Remy have any special signs or pictures of him?"
"No, but because he uses his abilities to gamble, he often wears a cowboy hat to avoid others seeing his face. He also has a cane with a white crystal on the top, which is easy to identify."
"Very good, it's easier now that we have the characteristics. As long as he's appeared recently, I can find him," Martin said, pointing to his head.
"Let's go now," Logan said.
"I'm going too," Fred and John said at the same time.
Logan looked at the two of them curiously. Both of them had previously avoided getting involved, so why did they want to help this time?
"You're right. I don't want to hide here forever," Fred smiled and added, "With Mr. Horn here, we will definitely succeed."
"Alright."
---
On the way to Las Vegas, Logan suddenly asked, "Is his metal claws the result of Stryker's experiment?"
He was tempted. From the information Martin had given him, he knew that as long as he had that, he would become much stronger.
"Adamantium is what you're referring to."
"Well... do you think I can get that injection as well? If he can handle it, so can I."
"It's too dangerous," Martin replied.
Under Logan's puzzled gaze, Martin continued, "Although injecting liquid adamantium into your body to replace bones is painful, your recovery ability is strong enough to withstand it. However, adamantium has a property that inhibits your healing factor. If your body is full of adamantium, it's equivalent to slowly committing suicide."
"How do you know? He's fine," Logan argued.
"I just know it. That kind of toxicity is long-term and slow, gradually corroding your body. It won't happen all at once."
"You mean one day my healing ability will disappear, I'll age, get injured, and then die?"
"Exactly."
"...That situation doesn't sound so bad."
Martin looked at him in surprise. "No way. Do you want to commit suicide?"
"Of course not..." Logan paused. Despite spending the past century in solitude and battle, survival was still instinctual. Now that things were looking up, he didn't want to die. But the idea of that kind of fighting power was enticing...
"...Can I only modify certain parts?" Logan asked, raising his hand.
"I don't know. What if the trait spreads throughout your body?"
After a moment of silence, Logan said, "I want to try... just transforming my arm. I have confidence in myself."
Those claws were his best weapon. Pure bone, no matter how sharp or strong, could never compare to adamantium.

On the main street of Las Vegas, filled with casinos, two cars pulled into a parking lot.
After getting out of the car, Logan looked at Martin and said, "It's up to you."
"Leave it to me."
Martin started by scanning the mind of a nearby casino security guard, searching for Remi—who was wearing a tall hat and carrying a cane with a crystal on top—from his memory. Unfortunately, the security guard hadn't noticed anyone matching that description recently.
But it didn't matter. He'd find their supervisor through this security guard... If the supervisor wasn't there, he would move on to the next one.
After checking several casinos, Martin finally got Remy's whereabouts from the manager on duty at a larger casino. In the manager's memory, Remi had never lost in gambling. Naturally, the casino suspected him of cheating, but they had no proof.
Several casinos where Remi frequented had joined forces to keep an eye on him. At that moment, Remy was in one of those casinos.
Martin followed the memory trail and found Remy dominating a poker game. Just as Fred said, Remy wore a hat that concealed his face. Martin could clearly sense a special energy emanating from the poker cards in Remy's hands.
"We've found him. Should I read his memory directly, or do you plan to contact him?" Martin asked.
At the same time, Martin also found the so-called island they were looking for.
Logan asked, "Can you find the island?"
"Yes, I've located it."
"There's no need to get in touch with him. He's just a gambler."
"Well... wait, I found someone I know," Martin said with a smile.
Logan, who was about to turn around and get in the car, stopped and looked at Martin. "Who?"
"Victor."
The faces of everyone else changed instantly. The name "Victor" made their blood run cold.
"Where is he?" Logan asked seriously.
"I'll find him..."
Martin saw from Remy's memory that Victor had been in the casino, but Remy didn't know who he was. Victor had merely caught his attention due to his intimidating presence, though Remy hadn't thought much of it.
Given Martin's familiarity with Victor, it wasn't difficult to find him in this city. Victor was lurking behind the casino where Remy was currently playing, and it seemed his target was Remy. However, Victor wasn't ready to make his move just yet.
"Not far," said Martin, extending his arm.
Logan grabbed Martin's arm without hesitation, "Take me there."
"Why?"
Victor didn't know about their involvement, and Martin didn't understand Logan's urgency to face him.
"...I want to know why he's been trying to ruin my life."
"Alright."
The other three exchanged glances. Kayla hesitated but eventually took Logan's hand, trusting him enough to put aside her fear of Victor for the moment.
Fred and John, however, were more apprehensive. Having worked with Victor for so many years, they knew just how ruthless and powerful he was. Fighting a man who seemingly couldn't die was a terrifying prospect.
"Are you sure about this?" John asked, trying to put on a brave face, though everyone could see his fear.
Fred looked to Martin for reassurance.
"Don't worry," Martin said with a smile. "After all, you're my first and only fan."
"Good."
Seeing Fred's relieved expression, Martin couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. It would've been nice if his first fan had been a girl. Alas, his first admirer turned out to be a man. Oh well...
Still, it felt pretty good to be admired.
As they set out, Martin reflected on his recent life decisions. Maybe being carefree all these years, taking things easy, wasn't such a bad thing after all.
