Chapter 4: The Discovery

Corey went back to his room, he needed a moment. These days had grown darker for him. After losing all hope of ever finding Josh again, he wrote about their encounter on a page, hoping that the "message in a bottle" would reach Josh. He checked his messages again with a mixture of hope and resignation. When he saw Josh's message, his heart leapt. He replied quickly, and they agreed to meet the next day at a downtown Starbucks.

The reunion was both awkward and exhilarating. They nervously hugged each other at the door and went inside. A capuccino and a mocha, and a muffin. They sat down, joking about the fake names and sharing their real ones. As they talked, Josh noticed something new, a ring on Corey's finger. His neck suddenly felt cold, but his curiosity piqued, he asked about it.

"Yeah, I'm in a triad," Corey admitted, watching Josh's reaction carefully. "It's a little unconventional, I'm the younger one, but it works for us."

Josh felt a pang of jealousy, but also a spark of curiosity. He had never considered being involved with a man, let alone more than one person, but the idea intrigued him. "Must be interesting," he said, trying to sound casual and more sure of himself than he really was.

"It is," Corey said, smiling. "Why don't you come meet with them? No pressure, just dinner. They'll love you."

Josh agreed, his mind racing with possibilities. Corey's voice was muffled by his thoughts, wandering like horses in a field. what would he wear? Should he bring something? Should he cut his hair? As they left the cafeteria together, he couldn't help but feel that this was the beginning of something even more special.
