Osito (Demo)

I knew that I wanted to include at least two songs in Spanish on the album and I started brainstorming around April 2021. It took me a while to find something interesting and fresh, and it was during a trip to Puerto Vallarta in November that two American tourists gave me the idea for Osito. I was doing some quick shopping at a grocery store when two guys came in all glittery (and possibly drunk), laughing and super loud (but actually funny). They started saying the only words they could in Spanish, hoping the girl behind the counter would help, and she just told them (very disinterestedly): "hagan lo que quieran pero cuidado que la cafeteria esta muy caliente" (which means: whatever you want, but watch out for the kettle, it's very hot - you could burn yourself). The guys just got the word "caliente" and started repeating it, giggling and pretending to be sexy... and I knew I had my song.
I spent the rest of the trip writing down the Spanish words I heard English speaking tourists saying here and there and started to think about how to make a song out of it. Then one passionate afternoon came along and I knew I had to make a song about Mexican flirting and how passionate Mexican men can be. And I set myself to it on December 13, 2021, and on January 15, I finished this first demo ☺️
