He felt you've been avoiding him, but there is more backstory to this. There always is with me. We only see this scenario from his perspective, but in reality he was the one who kept you at arms length emotionally. The intimacy was there, but he wasn't making you feel secure in the relationship. There may have been a moment where you tried to get closer but he pulled back and hurt your feelings a little in an attempt to guard himself. Things were moving too fast. But when you took a page out of his book and began treating the relationship as something less serious than it was, he felt the energy wane and immediately wanted that connection back. This was an attempt to take back control while being out of control. 🤣 He is a bit of a mess. What he really meant to say was he missed you and he regretted putting a wedge between you because he got overwhelmed, but his ego took over in this moment. I imagine later after you are laying in each others arms and at peace, he might have a more inrimate conversation with you and say what he meant to say. An apology at least.
