Shoe Demon
Added 2024-04-19 15:42:59 +0000 UTCI've always loved the idea of sexy demons but wearing fancy shoes. A hot demon in some Nikes, why not. mixing gothic ideas with modern fashion interests me a lot.
Not done this before but I figured I'd include my reference/mood board for those that might be interested in the kinds of references I gather. I do this to collect images that might help me to get the certain feel I'm looking for. This board is mainly reference for the demon, which I loosely based off Milly Alcock. I originally thought I'd show her teeth, but decided to change that last minute and go for a more melancholy expression.
For the pose, I always love awkward poses... doing a typically "ugly" pose is something that appeals to me a lot.
A lot of the time I'll just sketch out a pose idea (see the super rough images) then I'll use a figurine that I have on my desk to position the pose and refine the sketch based on that. you might be familiar with the "body kun" figurines. whilst not perfect, they are super useful for getting some quick pose reference. I find them pretty useful if I find myself stuck with getting a particular angle right.
tried to do a more "in depth" break down of my process for an image like this. let me know if you want more like this and I'll make the next one better.
Typically I find myself forgetting to plan for the posts and breakdowns so saving at regular intervals is something I really need to get better at. but if its not something that interests you in general then I don't mind skipping it.
