S1 was also absolutely gutted. The novel version of arc 3 is so much better.

2025-06-18 16:08:02 +0000 UTCMaking Arc 4 shorter than it already was in Season 2 would've been a disaster. There's already so many things they had to cut. Given it was covid times, I think they did a pretty good job but any shorter and it just wouldn't be a faithful adaptation.

2025-06-18 10:28:38 +0000 UTCI agree. Even though season 1 has great moments, the character development we got, especially for Subaru and Emilia, makes season 2 shine much more to me. Meeting the witches, Subaru's parents, and the real Petelgeuse was fascinating as well. But I guess it depends on what you look for in a story, and I'm the type of person who always cares about characters first.

But you never know, there's a non-zero chance she might come back. But I doubt it; her character arc as a side villain felt complete by the end.

They pretty much did that with classroom of the elite and it led to 80% of the cast being completely holllowed out and most b-plots that set up future stuff being cut. Too bad the stream will probably be at 3am here in Germany again, so I cant watch live. I'll still get to enjoy the VOD as a semi podcast the next day though so I'll have fun with that XD (Still hoping you'll read the appendix and not just the summary) Season 2 is honestly above season 1 for me. The amount of character work it did for Emilia, Betty, Ros, Garf and Otto is insane to me. It turned an in my opinion ok cast with a stellar MC into my favorit cast of all time. Season 1 set a lot of things up though (Royal Candidates, Sin Archbishops, Elsa and Meili) so it cant quite compete against these set ups being paid off in the future. Still, Petelgeuse, Subarus turmoil and the whole vibe were already amazing, just to make clear that I still love season 1 too.

2025-06-17 20:26:57 +0000 UTCWhen you guys start season 3, I recommend you use sources other than Crunchyroll, cause they mess up a lot of dialogue of various characters and have a weird wording. Pirating websites have honestly much much better quality subs. Now obviously I dont know what you use, but i assume you use crunchyroll. So just a warning upfront.
