Apart from that, this was a really good discussion and looking forward to the rest.

Emilia is basically his whole reason for pushing forward and then Rem and Ram too. I don’t think he had any friends in his old life. Remember when he was venting to Rem in I think episode 18 season 1 he was like I never did anything with all that freedom I once had. Basically admitting he had no motivation.

2025-04-06 00:16:19 +0000 UTCRandom theory. Why is Echidna the Witch of Greed putting people through a trial where they have to deal with past regrets? I think when describing herself she said that her regrets had made her greedy for knowledge or some such. She tried to tempt Subaru into staying with the promise of knowledge. Maybe the Trial is also a way for her to learn about how others deal with their past regrets, and she is both sharing and receiving knowledge. It is interesting that her vow limits knowledge, how Roswaal's family connection to her seemed to pertain to knowledge. Betty sent them there promising knowledge. Everything seems to be about Knowledge not Greed, at least not in the traditional sense.

2025-04-02 00:10:02 +0000 UTCThe first scene with Echinda is one of my favorites because it is really one of those meta moments that makes the show stand above other isekai shows. It plays both into Suburu's character and commenting on the genre. Suburu has this opportunity to ask questions to someone that is claiming to have this vast amount of knowledge and we know that he has questions. But instead, he just wants to leave, too focused on Emilia and getting to the Sanctuary. And you have Echinda frustrated, wanting to answer questions. I always think Echinda's reaction is so funny.
