Honestly sounds like you just don't like twins, sounds like you watched the shining once and just couldn't get over it 😂. But fr I think most people find it endearing. That said they're also speaking Japanese so the way they talk is inherently different.

2025-01-15 21:19:58 +0000 UTCAs the comment above mentioned, Emilia called herself Satella to scare Subaru off to protect him from being negatively perceived as being associated with her - a silver haired half elf. But because he's a foreigner to this world he didn't react negatively at all calling it such a pretty name which surprised Emilia. He continued to call her Satella to the very end of the first loop, and if you recall before he entered the loot house Emilia said she'd apologize to him afterwards.. most likely about deceiving him about her name.

For one, Subaru just randomly started wanting to follow her around, so it was most likely partially an attempt to try and get him off her, since no normal person in this world would wanna stick with a person with that name ESPECIALLY when she also looks like her. Additionally, Subaru had proven to her that he seemed to have barely any knowledge of this world, not even knowing that there was nothing east to where they were. So she was probably testing if he would react to the name. A bit later on in the first episode, Emilia tells him she's a half-elf and looks dejected while doing so. She gets really flustered at Subaru not reacting to it at all, since being a half-elf is normally looked down upon thanks to the Witch Of Envy being one. Even later, when Subaru is about to enter the loot house, Subaru calls her Satella once and she's surprised for a moment because she momentarily forgot she had told him that was her name. Then she says she will "apologise later" which it of course never comes to because they die in the loot house. But she was gonna apologise for telling him that her name was Satella.
