The Unexpected Summoning Ch.16 (Harry Potter/High School DxD)
Added 2023-03-14 23:26:59 +0000 UTC“Really?” Riser sneered as he leaned back to make an attack miss him by a hairbreadth, “You’re resorting to relying on help to defeat me?”
Harry paid his taunts no mind and apparated right next to Riser to get within stabbing distance. However, the Phenex was well-prepared for an attack, just like Harry assumed.
“Now!” Harry yelled as he shot another powerful blasting curse at Riser, telling Rias and Akeno to act. A pitch-black ball of destruction and a blinding bolt of lightning joined Harry’s attack.
Harry tightened his grip on the knife and prepared to intercept Riser’s dodge. When the devil used his wings to move near instantaneously to his right, well out of the way of the attacks, Harry made his move simultaneously.
*CRACK*
Harry appeared a short distance from Riser.
“Again? I could do this all-,” Riser’s eyes widened as he desperately tried to move. However, he had gotten too cocky. While Harry’s teleportation was slightly dangerous, the loud crack the moment he appeared took away most of what made it effective. That made Riser drop his guard slightly, which was a significant mistake.
He never expected Harry to throw the terrifying knife at him.
“ARGH!” Riser yelled as he stumbled back as the blade sank into his side. He grasped uselessly at the knife’s handle and started to panic when his hands went right through it as if it was an illusion.
He didn’t get to think about it much longer.
“BOMBARDA!”
Riser was engulfed in a massive explosion, leaving nothing to be seen once the air cleared.
Harry panted from the rush he felt with the heavy use of magic. It was his instinct to yell out the name of the spell from the frustration he felt with fighting Riser, but that instinct turned out to be a boon. The spell had come out more powerful than it ever had throughout the rating game.
Harry started to chuckle, exhilarated that they won and beyond ecstatic that Rias would be free from the contract with Riser. He knew he liked the strangely kind devil heiress, but he hadn’t known just how much until he felt the relief that nobody else had a claim on her.
“Rias! Akeno!” Harry called out with a grin, “We won!”
[Idiot.]
‘What now? You can’t bring me dow—‘
*BOOM*
Rias almost dropped out of the air in shock after the massive fireball engulfed her love. She had seen him grinning at them in happiness after the seeming victory, only to be immediately proven wrong. She could feel her heart beating in her throat while she was frozen in place, vaguely aware of Akeno in the same state beside her.
“Grayfia didn’t call the ending of the game.”
Akeno could hear the defeat in her master’s voice. Not that she blamed her for that at all when the fire cleared to reveal Harry face down on the ground. They rushed to him before Rias cradled his body in her arms as Akeno checked his pulse.
“Harry should have been taken out by now,” Akeno said nervously as she felt his weak pulse, “He’s in no condition to fight.”
< Rias-sama’s Knight and Pawn have been eliminated.>
“There’s one way to make that happen.”
It was dire enough for Rias and Akeno that Riser only looked slightly worse for wear than before. Still, getting the news that they were now alone in the rating game was brutal. Harry still wasn’t disqualified, but with his current state, there was no chance of him being of any help.
“Your new servant gave me quite a lot of trouble, Rias,” Riser had a hint of praise in his tone, “That’s what I expect from the woman to be my wife. The servants you choose are exemplary… other than the dragon boy. You must gain the right to act so lustfully, and as a mere reincarnated devil, he does not have that.”
“… Enough,” Rias’s voice was quiet, barely above a whisper, “I don’t want to fight anymore. I should have stopped when Harry first got hurt.”
“That would have been the smart thing, yes,” Riser agreed as he looked around until he saw his sister. “This worked out well. Everyone got some practice in, and you can finally stop throwing your tantrum about our marriage.”
Riser looked back at them when he heard the crackle of lightning. “Oh? It looks like your Queen still wants to fight, Rias.”
Akeno had never felt so angry since she had become a devil. She would need to return to when she was still a half-human to have a similar comparison.
“No,” Rias pushed down Akeno’s arm, “It’s over, Akeno. I won’t have you hurt too. Grayfia, I qui-”
“Oi.”
Rias froze and looked down to see Harry staring at her from his place on her lap.
“Shut your trap, girl. I might die of shame if I lost to the damn chicken there... that would be ironic,” Harry’s body sat up, and he slowly stood on his feet.
Rias blinked, feeling there was something different about Harry. Mainly from the way he spoke to her. Maybe Riser’s attack made him lose his patience, but she still had something to say about how rude he was to her. But first, there were more concerning matters to focus on.
“Harry, stop! There’s no way you can fight in this condition!”
“Hm?” Harry’s face looked down at his body and frowned when he saw a burned mess. “No wonder I feel so weak.”
“I admire your persistence,” Riser eyed Harry warily, “But sometimes you have to know when to give up.”
“You’re not in much better shape than this body. I can feel you getting destroyed from the inside. I wonder how long you can keep regenerating to save yourself.”
Riser’s face darkened when Harry accurately spoke out loud about the reality of his situation. The blast that hit him after the knife was buried in his side was a lifesaver. He still shuddered at how his hand passed through the handle while, at the same time, the deadly energy inside the knife corroded his flesh.
The knife would have already ended the rating game if Harry’s attack hadn’t destroyed his body and freed him from the blade. And Riser had a fearful thought that it could have even led to death with how malevolent the effect of the knife was.
“So what?” Riser narrowed his eyes and formed a giant fireball above him, “I can end this before it can affect me. Rias, do you want to forfeit? Or should I make the decision for you?”
When Rias, who still looked defeated, opened her mouth, Harry waved a hand in her direction.
“Mmm!” Rias couldn’t open her mouth and looked at Harry wide-eyed.
“I told you to shut up,” Harry rolled his eyes before turning back to Riser, “That fire of yours is far weaker than before. What do you think you are going to do with it? Warm me up?”
Riser sneered at what he saw as false bravado. Since Harry was the one that was preventing Rias from forfeiting, getting rid of him was a priority. Riser estimated that he could sustain three to four full-powered attacks in his damaged state before his body would start to fail. However, that would be plenty to finish off Harry, who was in a far worse state.
The fiery wings burst from Riser’s back in its full glory. There was a slight smile on Harry’s face when the Phenex disappeared and was in touching distance the next instant. The fireball was about to engulf Harry, and Riser smiled widely as he waited for the end.
That wasn’t anywhere close to what actually happened.
Riser watched with shock as the fireball was snuffed out, and his wings were forcibly suppressed. He could feel magic that wasn’t his course through his body and take the control away from him.
“Did you think I have the same issue as the boy? He is so damned confused about his powers I am surprised he put up the fight he did.”
“The boy?” Riser was surprised he could even talk. His brain was cut off from every part of his body except his head. “Are you talking about yourself?”
“Myself?” Harry’s face had a toothy grin, “No. You put Harry Potter to sleep. I will be his replacement until he stops being a pussy and wakes up.”
“Who are you?” Akeno asked warily as she watched Harry effortlessly shut down Riser.
“Oh, don’t worry, Second Place. I’m still on your side.”
Akeno tilted her head in confusion, wondering why she was called second place, until she saw Rias trying to hide a smile. Akeno stared at her master before looking at Harry with dangerous intentions in her eyes. One that told of the untold suffering that would soon follow.
“Heh. Second Place, you cannot intimidate me.”
“And you,” Harry’s head turned to Riser, “You can call me Tom. I suppose I should thank you for giving me a chance to control this body.”
“What are you?” Riser asked as sweat dripped down his face. His powers being blocked was causing havoc due to his regeneration being inactive. The corrosion inside his body was spreading too fast.
“I’m a guest in the boy’s body. That destruction inside you was caused by my power.”
Riser’s face stiffened when the knife appeared in Harry’s hands. He couldn’t hold on for much longer, but he still had hope that his sister would be able to catch Rias off guard. However, if he was stabbed again by that horrifying knife, Riser didn’t know if he could hold on for his sister to possibly save the day.
“This can’t be good for the boy then,” Riser said while trying to hide his fear as the knife grew closer, “You must be killing him with how much power you’re using.”
Tom laughed loudly, surprising everyone watching. “You would think so, right? But guess what? The idiot had this amount of power all along. The biggest thing holding Harry back was his doubt in himself. He still hasn’t gotten used to this new world he entered.”
“New world?” Riser muttered in confusion.
“Ah?” Tom frowned, “I think I said something I was not supposed to.”
Riser didn’t really care. He prayed for Ravel to make her move. As long as Rias was removed from the match, it wouldn’t matter if he was a step away from death. He tried not to think of the abundant number of times he had the chance to end the match himself. However, Riser had never believed that the current scenario would ever be possible.
“Mmm!”
Tom blinked as he remembered that he had sealed Rias’s mouth shut. He released the magic and looked at her in question.
“End it!” Rias almost screamed, “Why are you just standing there?!”
“Well, you see,” Tom smirked before looking into the distance and making a grabbing motion with his hand, “It’s quite interesting to control Harry’s body. I don’t feel like giving it up so fast.”
“AHHHHHHH!”
Riser’s eyes grew wide at the sound of his sister’s screams getting closer. He tried to look in the direction where he was hearing it, but with his body frozen in place, it was impossible. However, he did feel Ravel’s body get thrown into him like a cannonball.
Riser grunted as his damaged body took on the full force with no cushion as he was made to stay in place by Harry’s magic. He could feel multiple broken bones from his sister crashing into him, except this was the first time they didn’t start healing immediately.
“Now, what should I do with you?” Tom smiled as he stared at the moaning girl crumpled on the ground.
“Y-You won’t get away with this!” Ravel struggled onto her feet, “I’ll save my brother!”
“Okay,” Tom nodded and summoned Ravel to him.
*Shik*
Ravel coughed and stared blankly into Harry’s reddening eyes. Riser could withstand the knife’s power after it stabbed him for a reasonable amount of time, but Ravel was far too young. She started to visibly wither in front of everyone’s eyes.
< Riser-sama’s Bishop has been eliminated.>
“Tch,” Tom frowned when Ravel disappeared, “I forgot this was just a game.”
Riser was filled with rage at Harry, Tom, and himself. Riser should have known that Tom was much different compared to Harry. He shouldn’t have expected a similar fighting style, and Ravel paid the price for that.
“Now it’s just you,” Tom turned his attention back to Riser, “I think I’m going to play with you for a bit. You won’t mind, would you?”
Riser knew there was no point in enduring anymore. The rating game was lost. He sighed and prepared to forfeit, something that was unthinkable a few minutes ago. However, Riser found that he couldn’t open his mouth.
“Ha! Come on, fire chicken. I wouldn’t let you spoil my fun so fast. I wanted to see what would happen if I forced more of my power into your so-called immortal body.”
Riser couldn’t move, but his eyes told everything about the terror he was feeling.
“Harry! No!” Rias protested as she flew to him, “This isn’t right!”
“What?” Tom frowned in confusion, “Why are you sticking up for him?”
Before Rias could reply, Tom continued excitedly, “Don’t tell me you changed your mind about the marriage!”
“No!” Rias denied firmly as she held onto Harry’s arm to prevent Tom from torturing Riser, “But this isn’t something Harry would do. And I won’t let you use his body to do it!”
“Hm,” Tom stared at Rias curiously before saying, “I don’t care.”
Rias yelped when she was thrown a short distance away before being locked in place. All she could do was watch helplessly as Tom used Harry’s body to gleefully stab at a terrified Riser.
Right before Tom was able to penetrate Riser’s neck, a heavy pressure was felt throughout the grounds, freezing everyone in place. Tom was staring at Harry’s trembling hands and snorted resentfully.
<The Phenex Clan has forfeited the rating game. Rias-sama is declared the winner.>
Tom could feel that the one that stopped Harry’s body from moving with the sheer weight of his power was interested in meeting him. However, Tom didn’t share that interest and prepared to withdraw. He glared at Riser and cursed silently before retreating to the depths of Harry’s soul.
