Incest is not as taboo in the North as it is in the Southern Kingdoms, due to thier lower population and harsh winters. So instead of running of with Prince Rhaegar to escape her marriage to Robert. Lyanna Stark decides to seduce her brother Ned at Harrenhall, knowing her honorable brother will marry her afterward. Eddard tries to resist, due to his time in The Vale telling him it's wrong. But he already loves his sister, she's grown into a beautiful young woman, and he can't think of anyone that will treat her better than him....besides, you she's so insistant.
